Lately, I've been thinking... I don't think my art is good and I fear that it will never be good. I fear that if I show it to the people, me and my art will be ridiculed. I would never dare to show my art to the people around me, well, except one person... On the internet, it is a bit easier but the fear remains every time I press ''submit new post'' thing.
But I like to do it and I like when people like what I do. Sometimes I think I should just shut up, do what I like in secrecy and don't bother anyone with it. But sometimes it is lonely like that...

NOTE: The character from top right corner belongs to
His/Her character: I pretty much used it without his/her knowledge so if he/she minds I will remove it.

well thats natural to be scared of being judged for something you care a lot about but its a crucial step on your journey

even though art is a lot for us the artist, youll learn that artistic expression is a bigger gift to others than for the person who made it themselves

Advice: keep working in your natural space and growing, personally i think youre pass the beginner stage but you personally have to feel like your art is good enough to give to others, and if you feel you need to be better to get the desired reactions you want, practice and study but i like this if it is yours

Azu, just keep doing what you feel like doing. There will always be criticism and people envious who will be "harsh", but that's just natural.
I've been struggling with my "art" too, but I long ago decided that I didn't really had to listen to people and just do whatever feels right.
So yeah, your art is just beautiful and unique. Keep up the good work and you'll get to the top sooner that you'd think .

Stay positive. Its about you and your art anyway. As long as you know that, you shouldn't fear.
Thanks for the advice.

I love your art style
Oh, thanks. I don't think I have art style tho.

Keep thanking people!
I don't understand.

I don't quite understand what you meant by ''if it is yours''?

As someone who has been drawing my entire life I can fully relate to the thoughts and feelings you go through when both drawing and presenting. Everytime you draw your best piece it becomes terrible a few days later simply because you know you can draw better. And better and better. You knock down walls to achieve more and when you think yourself your art is terrible you think everyone else will think it and you get into a cycle of worry.

Your work is really nice and there will be bad parts but that's where you learn. (Everyone says this I know) it's 100% true. I can't draw hands to save my life but if I avoid them I will never be good so stay confident and remember you are good at drawing and cam only get better not worse. =)

Mhm, I'll bite...

So what exactly is "wrong" with your work?
Human head is round, right? Yet, when I look at all of the examples above I don't get that feeling. It looks as if lips, nose and eyes lay in the flat surface. I usually use a lot of colors or one different color to indicate cheeks but most of the times that doesn't even look like cheeks, it looks just like another color on more colors. Yes, one needs to build shadows gradually, yet, even when I do it ''properly'' (in my mind) it doesn't look right. Look at the edge lines of the face, they are too sharp. There is no texture whatsoever on the skin.
Eyeball is a ball and it sticks out from eye socket and yet nothing indicates on the characters above that skin actually covers the ball. My eyelashes are fake and look like a freaking wood. My eyebrows make no sense. And let's not even talk about ears, neck or hair. You get it...

Thanks.

I think that I compare what I do with the work of other really amazing artists and then I really see the real difference. And yes, I know, many other artists have been there feeling the same as I feel now. And I don't want to quit, I want to continue what I do...

Shape of the human face for me is really a nightmare. I keep making it super flat even tho I don't want that. Lol But, yeah, practice, just practice...

Thank you for your advices.

I don't quite understand what you meant by ''if it is yours"
posers and fakers. i believe you though based on some of your responses

i know this wasnt directed towards me but i think youre overthinking it. from the examples above the head shape isnt bad imo youll learn art is basically using perspective and value, that is all. the tricky thing is every single person has a different viewing perspective, sometimes what looks terrible to you looks great to others and vice versa. some people see color at duller tones, etc

if you have some sort of face or design reference that youre aiming for, that might make you feel like you missed and way youre judging yourself so hard. id say find a few different photos of female and male headshot that you like. group them together and look for what individual aspects each of these have that you like, try to make your own versions of the shape and the more you draw them, the more muscle memory kicks in, and the more you understand how the angles react to light and can make more realistic features

Oh, you mean like that...

Unfortunately, I don't have PSD/SAI files of these on my laptop. I only save them in JPG/PNG form. I would like to save them but I have feeling that I am just pilling up things and than that influences work of my laptop. I already have problems with with lagging on PS (smudge tool lags as hell/brush tool lags after like a half an hour of work in it). SAI doesn't lag at all but I can't move stabilizer more than 15 because it lags when I start drawing. So, due to these problems I avoid saving any picture/videos/music on my laptop.

And that's one thing. The other is that I don't have a lot of layers in these files. I usually delete them or just merge them at some point. I heard from some artists that the more layers you have, the more your program will lag. And honestly, I like to work on one layer. I feel comfortable like that and it's kind of convenient for me. Surely, I do have separate layers for hair and skin. In SAI that I use, color picker works only on the layer that you mark so if you have 4 layers it can be pretty confusing at some point: what layer you paint on, what layer you pick color from.

I would gladly do speedpaint for some of my future works but I don't know how to do it (I never did it) and I don't know what kind of program I would need for that. But what I can do is basically just screenshot the thing that I am doing a few times and show you the progress.

I do use references, especially lately because I was a bit afraid that all my works will look the same at some point. And to avoid that I explore different types of faces and positions but for now I only feel comfortable within natural positions. I know that I need to practice a lot. And tbh, if I had time I would sit all day and do nothing except draw. However, I don't have time for that. And maybe I am harsh towards myself but that's ok to me.
