I'm a huge fan of Batman. I've read more Batman comics than I have chapters of Naruto, which I'm sure is pretty sad. I know just about everything about the Bat-Family, Bat-Universe, and just overall DC knowledge in general.

Obviously, I couldn't wait for AO. I pre-ordered it, bought the season pass, got the extra character get ups for online, the whole nine yards. I thought this game would blow my mind after Arkham City.

What I got instead was... Meh. 7/10. Which isn't terrible, but from a franchise that has cranked out two 9.5/10 games, this was kind of a let down. I'm sure other people had issues with it, but for someone as involved in the Bat and DC Universe, there were a lot of things that irked me. But I want to go over my biggest qualm with the game:

Deathstroke

Deathstroke is the badass. He is the embodiment of it. He's not just a badass; he is badass. It's a synonym.

Most of the public would probably know Deathstroke as by his real name, Slade (Wilson), from the Teen Titans cartoon, where, again, he was inherently badass.

So, naturally, I expected Deathstroke to be the absolute highlight of this game. Instead, we got a single cut scene with him and a 5 minute fight. And then he's... Gone.

What?

Deathstroke should have been a huge enemy in this game. If Captain America took steroids, that would be Deathstroke. The guy soloed Green Lantern and The Flash in a fistfight. He's mopped the floor with Batman countless times.

Here he is embarrassing Green Lantern.

Here he is stabbing The Flash through the freaking stomach.

And in some of the worst writing ever, here he is getting stabbed.

And yet, for some reason, they chose to make him a 5 minute fight in which Batman makes him cower in a corner and proceeds to scare the sh*t out of him.

This was just poor form. A huge injustice to the character. I literally had to stop playing because it frustrated me so. Deathstroke, at least, should have appeared consistently throughout the game and had an active, constant role in the story. Not this 5 minute bullcrap that we got where he gets his ass kicked.

There are other reasons the game fell short for me, but if I listed all my fanboy nerd rages, you would end up reading the equivalent of a 20 page paper. I'm sure you could barely manage this without leaving the page.

I never read any of the comics, just watched the animated series in the 90's-00's.

Still, I look forward to this game.

And as always ...

Like I said before, they should have just made this a DLC to Arkham City and worked on a Gotham City game.

Like how Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion had the $40 Shivering Isles dlc which was basically a whole different game. Same with Saints Row IV, should have just been a DLC.

I'm a big DC and Marvel fan but when this game was announced and they were talking about it I knew I wasn't going to buy it.

That game is basically unplayable.

they made an improved console version, same with diablo 3

So basically they remade the whole game?

Everything was wrong with that game except the graphics. The only way they could possibly improve it would be to make a whole new game.
