In the latest chapter we saw on the last page that Arima slit his own throat. There's been a lot of speculation on what is going to become of him. I've done some digging and these are the best two theories I've came across:

A
Arima was really just human all along. He was essentially the perfect human fighting machine and incapable of showing emotion. Arima is going to die and Kaneki will receive Arima's final will (that he always except until now kept blank) with information leading to the true identity to the OEK.

B
Arima is actually the OEK himself and the only way he can activate his Kagune is to be at death's door.


What do you think is going to happen?

can you please tell me what is special about rize's kagune (I'm talking about the ghoul from where kaneki's kagune comes from, I think that is her name)? I mean, I know her story and while she might be an interesting character she has no special power from what I know. so how come when kaneki gets her kagune he can be the strongest ghoul and that that evil guy that gets her kagune also can beat the one eyed owl ?

There is a human named Dr. Kanou who has transplanted Rize's Kagune into four different people. Two of the four have shown exceptional strength, one who has shown above average strength, and another who is dead. It hasn't been stated clearly why her kagune is different so there is only speculation. We do know Rize was a binge eater and we know that the more a ghoul cannibalizes, the more powerful they become. The only recipient of her Kagune that we know binge ate as well is Kaneki so there's not enough there to confirm that this is a contributor to her strength. Also, Rize was raised or at the least temporarily lived in a training ground called The Sunlit Garden. In one chapter we see a young Furuta asking Rize if she was bred too. Perhaps Rize is just a genetically engineered super weapon?

My personal theory is that Dr. Kanou was originally recruited by V to de-ghoulify ghouls. Essentially V wanted to get rid of ghouls who were causing problems due to lack of self control or other reasons and only allow ghouls who could control themselves to live in secrecy. I think Kanou had other plans and decided to test if he could create hybrids and alas he was successful and maybe chose to make his creations into his personal army.

Bruh that ***** just killed himself, but a better thoery than this is wht if arima dies here and the V take his corpse and clone him withe ghoul dna to make the ultimate army for there up coming war.

Kind of option A. I think he killed himself because his role is done. My idea of his role being to train someone to be stronger than himself. I think he picked up kaneki and trained him and planned to continue killing and reviving kaneki until kaneki eventually won. Maybe he wants kaneki to realize he is the one eyed king or maybe just to combat V or maybe as proof that ghouls can live with humans or something. either way, his motives were clearly more than just hunting down ghouls.

Neither of the options sounds plausible to me. Then again, I have no idea what is going to happen.

Arima killed himself.

That's the end of it in my opinion.
