I remember being sad the first time they fought each other at the Valley. Even though there aren't many moments that truly showcase their friendship, you can still see it from time to time. When Naruto poured his heart out and told Sasuke how much he meant to him, and Sasuke reciprocated by admitting he felt the same, but with a lot less emotion, cold heart'ed as he is.
At that time Sasuke wanted to sever that bond because he had his own achieve at all costs ambition of killing Itachi, and this time......well this time Sasuke wants to become a symbol of darkness and mete out his own judgments upon the world to protect the peace his clan and his brother died for, I'm really not surprised thats the path Sasuke chose. It's befitting and unique only to him.
Even though all of this is fitting, its sad. I always knew it would be this way, but I still can't shake this sadness. I guess I'm just more emotionally attached to these guys than most. I have spent a good amount of my life following and anticipating their stories.
Its kinda depressing that it has to end the same way it began........
