I believe this. Hashirama grew up in a time where losing family was an almost everyday thing. His brother died and he was forced to fight his best friend. He selflessly gave everything up for the future.

Sasuke may think Hashirama can 'understand' him.

I wonder... since Sasuke seems so easy to influence (Obito did it in 1-2 chapters, Itachi did it in a couple and then Hashi completed it in a flashback/ story time)...

What if Madara influences the Izuna look-a-like? Hm...
