Are you glad they showed more backgroud on Gai? Is he equal to or stronger than Kakas

Are you? I used to think the Kakashi-Gai rivalry was something Gai only recognized and not Kakashi. It always showed him screaming he was Kakashi's rival and Kakashi wouldn't give much attention to it. Then after Gai defeated Kisame i was impressed by him. That's when I started to realize it wasn't all talk. Of course we saw what he could do in the war ect. Then they gave insight on his past, and we got to see how hard he had to work to be on Kakashi's level/anybody for that matter. It showed how their rivalry began, and in the anime (idk if it's canon) how equal they were. So what do you think? Are him and Kakashi equal in the war? have they always been equal (well after gai closed the gap after the academy) Or is one of the other stronger/always been?

I like back stories, but the back stories barely show relevance like you would see in Bleach. The Bleach fillers were great (other than the Bounts, etc), they gave so much information. I liked Gai's thought idky

Kakashi has been stronger for most of the time until guy went 8 gates.

if guy really wanted to, he could probably stomp kakashi into next week, after all, if he opened all 7 gates, took off his weights, and didnt limit himself to only taijustu(he can summon turtles, wonder if he can become a sage?) he would probably be at the level of madara in his first life(with out ems mind you)
