hmmmm..

elaborate on what you tag as 'reality' for a sec because i'm a bit lost on what 'reality' is to you--is it scientific data, acknowledging that we should be "free flowing spirits" and not be bogged down by beliefs themselves? non-beliefs? you've piqued my interest. it sounds like you're sort of a naturalist and an analytical thinker above all else? (yes, i know you have a distaste for labels but it's easier to simplify and see where you're coming from by doing this - i.e. categorical thinking. you can't be nothing, or you'll confuse my brain, etc. everyone holds onto something even if it's not religion) like, i don't really understand this part so you're gonna have to show me since i'd rly like to know :p

and, no, the world isn't ruled by religion - i agree. however, it's pretty ingrained in humanity and across various cultures, no? much like anything else is depending on whatever society we happen to examine, imo. that's what i was pinpointing

and i believe we are 'ruled' by belief systems - which are extremely diverse (look at this thread), mind you. such as moral codes, philosophies (like the one you're currently showing and the one i happen to show myself! or my blatant confusion), religion itself, etc. and it doesn't just apply to religion, i agree there. there's really no limit on this since there's an overwhelming amount of views in this world that we happen to carry (and some overlap, such as ethics and religion for the religious, or some views ruled distinctly by a moral code that's entirely separate from the typical philosophies and religions).
all of the above paragraph is why i don't think we're built to be exceptionally rational beings (or else we'd wake up and carve out any belief system that world's ever seen and get rid of, you know, binary thinking), which is why i believe we frequently hold categorical positions no matter how hard we try to get out of that narrow mindset (i mean, i see where you're coming from, and i find myself getting miffed about it myself. but this is just my conclusion since the brain has so many complex processes we've yet to grasp, although there are some answers)

so what does the world revolve around for you? one thing or many? and what would those things happen to be? acceptance? strong ethics? go go go
i said we're not all ruled by belief systems.emphasis on systems.

Pretty simple, really. no ideology or a bunch of verbiage needed. And no you won't be confused.

What happened, is what happened. What is, is what is...no ego or ideology added to it.After all, it's not some belief system...

ha..."go go go"...you're such an adorable show off.

i mean, i'm legit inviting you to express your thoughts; i wasn't trying to patronize you. am i misinterpreting this as some acerbic reply when it's not supposed to be or am i hitting the nail on the head and i've managed to annoy you?

not really sure what's happening here, uh?

Muslim. I could say agnostic theist instead but recently my faith has been becoming stronger.

Lol, it's sad to say this but probably because I'm being a bit more tribal now and a bit more desperate these days, so my faith has strengthened.

..you kinda came across as a little silly,really...with the big ole response, didn't know you cared that much.

nail on the head, with what? Nothing you've said is annoying, just seems like I might of misconstrued you as a little "pompous".

fair enough. i warned you in an edit that it was pretentious rambling, lmao. seems you caught it

it's not to make an impolite ass of myself, i am just chaotically verbose when discussing things that interest me a great deal and get passionate which can come off as unbearably gaudy

i can't help it, it's a sickness

I'm religious but im private about it online because of the idiotic religious discussions

I come from a irreligious religious background like most people

Didn't have a conception of spirituality and faith till I was like 17 or 18

So most of my early 20s I asked questions figuring out if god exists which I believe he does and if any religion was true which I think there is

Im closest to a Christian, but I cant 100% fit into any category. I undoubtedly believe there is a god, but some things in the bible are hard to believe. I was agnostic for a little while, but there are some undeniable truths in Christian teachings that bought me back to being a psuedo-Christian. Could never be an atheist though, the big bang theory is the most asinine shít I've ever heard.
That would be a theist

apparently religious topics are the norm or whatever here (and maybe not being able to detect satire since i learned i had like 3 dislikes back in jan by sarcastically stating and mocking the morons who legitimately think trump cannot be stumped and and people took it as me being a legitimate trump supporter and not a satirist and disillusioned worthless stain on humanity, but now u know. i goofed by revealing my disillusionment which apparently pissed a couple people off, but that's a story for another time. politics is riddled with semantic boobytraps kno what im sayin)

so, a couple of conditions:
1. don't make this into another boring debate thread. as illogical as X religion sounds or if you seem to despise atheism, avoid attacking the poster and instead question things, unless it's too boring an explanation for you. pointlessly attacking one another will only end in circular debate, so try something new and actually learn about the person/group holding such beliefs
3. if you must cringe, just hit the dislike/neg button instead of going back and forth and wasting your energy to get someone to change their viewpoint. it's not going to happen (and don't take the criticism personally, man up!)
4. i skipped #2 to keep you on your feet and to trigger you
5. don't fit in with any of the above? i can't make a thread title including multiple religions so it's basic as hell, so if you're not in there, speak up! share it in this thread

reason for this is that thought processes and understanding how they came to be (born in a christian family perhaps? tragic life event and turned to X religion? just as sick of the bullshit and find religion to be toxic? you name it, you say why, and how you got to that point) is far more interesting than the typical "my views > yours" shenanigans

impress me
Im Muslim

I used to be a Pagan like the Vikings. Then I became a Christian. My Christian faith saved my life, because without my faith in Jesus and without my church, I would be just another thug on the streets.

Ever since I submitted my life to Christ, I felt whole. Life has been going great for me because of it.

Wiccan. Come from a family of atheists. Not in a coven, solitary.
I find many other religions interesting though, especially polytheistic such as Egyptian and Scandinavian mythology.
