Nah. If you hope for the good in people and only later realize you shouldn't have and get disappointed, that's exactly what optimism is. It sucks, doesn't it?

Lol I don't see optimism as doing good just to get stabbed in the back. I figure it as seeing or emphasizing the positive points, but I don't do that all the time.

Oh no, that's not what I meant. Obviously someone optimistic doesn't expect to be back-stabbed. They expect the best in people (but often people take advantage of that). Maybe you're something in between.
