In terms of having a complete skill/ability set that has no bad matchups.

It would make sense of why they were portrayed/stated to exist in their own matchup grouping separate from others, based on the "only a Sannin can beat a Sannin" statement. It could only work if there were no weaknesses for weaker characters to exploit. In that way the only thing that would matter in fighting one is if the opponent is at a high enough level to beat them.

Now their skills can obviously be broken down to disprove the idea of them having no particular weakness, but do you think they were made to have no weaknesses, by intention?

Of the three main methods for countering genjutsu (partner method, chakra control, immunity/reversal):
- Jiraiya has partner method and in SM has the chakra control
- Oro has chakra control comparable to Tsunade as a medic type as well as ninjutsu genius, partner method wth snakes under his sleeves (quick bite) and possibly immunity in his true form

Replying seriously since you used reasoning for Tsunade, which implies you yourself were serious

Also, your point implies the Sannin have a particular weakness to genjutsu that others don't (hence its a weakness, and not simply a matter of existing). Why exactly, if so?

Now that you mention it, I guess they are super rounded characters. Orochimaru and Jiraiya specifically though. I don't think Tsunade fits in because she lacks a skillset as large as theirs(infiltration, genjutsu, and seals being the important skills). I doubt that them being well-rounded is intentional though. Thematically, they're supposed to counter one another, thus they all should have distinct weaknesses and strengths. Snake > Slug > Frog > Snake, repeat.

If you want to find their weaknesses, you could compare them to their peers. The Sannin were all hokage candidates, so it's fair game to pit them against A(speed specialist, weakness strength/range), Mei(jutsu specialist, weakness taijutsu), Gaara(defense specialist, weakness taijutsu), Oonoki(jutsu specialist, weakness age/speed???). If I had ordered the Sannin it'd look something like Orochimaru(defense expert, weakness offense), Tsunade(mixed defense/atk expert, weakness jutsu/range), Jiraiya(offense expert, weakness defense). To test this out I'd pit them vs their closest counters. Tsunade vs Oonoki/Gaara(Mei would be here if her entire defense didn't amount to melting enemies), Orochimaru vs Gaara, and Jiraiya vs A.

It's whatever you make of it after that, but I do believe this highlights that they have weaknesses. I don't see Tsunade beating Oonoki nor Gaara, but I do see her beating Mei and A. I don't see Orochimaru beating Gaara, but I do see him beating Mei, A, and Oonoki. Jiraiya's matchups are question marks for me though I think she'd stomp A and probably all the others. Maybe Jiraiya's weakest matchup would actually be Mei since she's the one who relies the heaviest on offense, which trumps Jiraiya's relatively weak defense.

The point on Tsunade lacking range is common, but I disagree

She can summon Katsuyu to literally cover any common battlefield. Her turning to liquid and then Acid GG any ground based opponent is something very few can counter.

We know from FCD that summoning is fast enough to beat tailed beast reactions, and with her chakra Tsunade can summon mini Katsuyu to melt even aerial opponent with ease, irrespective of range.

Otherwise I like your analysis
