Are the Hyuugas related to the so6p?

We all know the Uchihas are descended from the so6p, but during the preliminaries of the chunin exam final Kakashi said the Uchihas are descended from the Hyuugas. Does that mean the so6p's son had a Byakugan? Or maybe a mix? xd

nah. you got it wrong the uchihas and the hyuugas are related but they are descendants of the elder son of the sage of six paths.i'm guessing as his desendants were coming. the ocular powers split into two. which is the sharingan and he byakugan. In other words. as crazy as it sounds. hinata, hanabi and neji are distant cousins of sasuke and itachi

I think the uchiha and senju are directly related and maybe the uzumaki is related to senju (we know this) and the hyuga are realted in some way to the uchiha.

I agree with hidden shinobis theory, but i dont think we will ever know, seeing as the word "hyuuga" is borderline taboo in kishis manga.
