Are shippers the most toxic part of fanbases?

I've found shippers are usually the most vocal and most toxic members of fanbases they legit operate gangs and drive by anyone who disagrees.

Specific character fanbases can be toxic but I havent seen anything close to shippers.

yaoi shippers are the worst. Legit, no shade towards homosexuals, it's the fangirls who'll just drive you insane. Funny enough I've ran into a few who weren't pro LGBT, just liked yaoi lol

Havent really come across that just everywhere I go shippers create a toxic environment for discussion

Depends on the fandom. In anime, typically no, but for some US shows for instance it goes beyond toxic. Though I do think that people who only like a particular anime because of the main ship, even when romance isn't a core theme of the show, leave something to be desired.
