Are Rinnegan Summons Immortal or Did Kishi Mess Up?

Hello everyone,

I was re-reading the battle between Jiraiya and Pain and something just hit me. Are Rinnegan summons immortal or did Kishi make a mistake with the Chameleon summon? I'll explain my reasoning below:

1st Manga Page: So in Jiraiya vs Pain we clearly see that the Chameleon summon was cut in half by Fukasaku, surely killing it.

2nd Manga Page: In the War Arc we see that the Chameleon is summoned once again and it shows no signs of damage from the previous fight.

Before posting this I checked on Narutopedia and the site stated that the Rinnegan summons were"immortal". After that I checked on the status of the summons and most of them said "deceased".

EDIT: I just saw that the Chameleon had wraps around it's abdomen in the War Arc fight. I guess that answers it lol.

I guess another question would be then, how the hell did it survive being cut in half?

Umm he definitely shows signs of damage, Idk about you but I think that HUGE bandage around his stomach is probably from that slash.

Practically they are dead just like the paths of pains they are ought to be dead too,and they have the reflection of users rinnegan in their eyes too, so they are ought to be dead...idk if im wrong but I had this discussion somewhere else too and there they concluded they are ought to be dead

not to mention they have the same piercings as the Paths had....They help in chakra transfer and controlling, so yeah they are dead from the beginning

But the thing is also after the fight with jiraiya vs pain we see it resummoned in konoha aswell
