I was watching an animes season

When the season ended OVAs were available for download

My question is

Are OVAs connected to the original story or lets say is it canon??? Or not

Lets say in Naruto after ep400 there is an OVA

Do u think its canon?

Im pretty sure that it varies. For example, the Naruto OVAs I don't think were ever cannon. Correct me if Im wrong however, but didn't Attack on Titan have an OVA or two that were based on canon side stories?

Yes, some of there are.

For example : Darker than black, Ilses's ova and Levi's Ova are cannon, even movies are cannon like return of kings and Paycho pass.

Etc, so yeah.

Depends on the show I suppose and the writer. Kenichi History's Mightiest Disciple OVA's I imagine are(Should be if not) considered canon since they pick the story of the manga up where the show ended.

well that all depends, for example the episode of bardock is a OVA created by akiras editor/assistant, i think it may be canon.

Nope, they're just extra filler.

No that was "yo son goku and his friends return". Episode of bardock was based on a videogame

on a videogame?, episode of bardock is definitely NOT based on dragon ball heroes.

My pairing detector is tingling.

OT, imo if they aren't written by the author, they aren't. But many fans believe that if the author deems them 'canon', it doesn't matter who the writer is.

Ovas are either side stories(non cannon) or a sequel(canon).

The Attack on Titan Ovas : Ilse's diary and A choice with no regrets are canon. You can goggle them and they will show.
