[Debate] Are non religious people smarter than their counterparts ?

This question has been on my mind for a while ? Do you think that non religious people (atheists,agnostics,etc) are smarter than their religious counterparts ? Does having a belief hinder your intelligence to its maximum capability or does it really depend on the person themselves? For me I think it's true in most cases ... but what do you guys think is it true ?

The answer will always be either subjective or just stupid generalizing, there's no point in even thinking about such a thing before meeting every single person in the world, which is probably never.

I see generalizations aren't always true but it sometimes help it all depends on how we do it to be honest.

Probably. Religious (Christian/Muslim) people are more conservative usually which is a tradional and often non-progressive (boxed, closed) way of thinking.

being smart doesn't meant you cant be religious and being religious doesn't mean you can't be smart

if you gathered statistics on the subject you would probably find based on percentage of the population there are more intelligent atheists but that doesn't mean every atheist is smarter than a deist

There are millions of dump religious people and there are millions of dump atheist people.

Just like everything else, both have their ignorant and non ingorant, I've met religious folks who don't judge for not caring about religion, I have Christian friends who don't judge me and vise versa, I don't do it either. But it depends on the person

The misconception that he was religious is a lie spread by religious people to make themselves feel better. There are letters he wrote that openly express his contempt for the Bible and how he did in fact not believe in any of the Abrahamic religions (Islam, Christianity, Judaism, etc.).
