Are databooks even trustworthy?

Are the Naruto and Boruto databooks even trustworthy ways to evaluate people skills. I feel like some people give way too much weight on the values given in them. For example, i read somewhere in the forums that Kurenai has the same level of genjutsu as Itachi which sounds absurd to me. Say Kurenai has 5 stars in Genjutsu as well as Itachi it doesn't like a good way to evaluate. It's not like they are gonna give her 4.75 stars. It should be based on a 100 point scale. Like Kurenai should have say a 92 and Itachi a 100. What are your thoughts, are the databooks a good way to evaluate?

Databook stat score only takes in consideration of base skill without additional power. So for the example you laid out: Genjutsu score on Itachi is only Genjutsu without Sharingan. So yes, Kurenai does have equal Genjutsu score to Itachi without Sharingan. Other examples are applicable to other areas.

Databook is written by Kishimoto, thus is factual. It can be referenced regardless whether fanboys like it or not.

As said above, only base skills and characterization is taken into consideration. Kurenai's skill might be equal to Itachi; do not mean that her genjutsu potency is equal to itachi; skill is the aptitude and maturity at which an individual applies his/her forte in the best way or manner possible.
Genjutsu potency is the power of his/her own genjutsu, the skill of the user cannot increase the potency of a jutsu; unless he/she combines it with some other jutsu; like Cee was questioning itachi's skill at amaterasu after seeing Sasuke shape manipulating with his other eye which is not increasing the potency but rather using another resource in combination with the given resource; and in this case, kurenai needs to add any other amplifier in her genjutsu to make it more potent even though her skill is equal to itachi. Itachi can control the entire SA, which is the thought of an experienced elder of konoha such as Shukaku and Ao who saw through perfect jin manipulation illusionary technique; even he can't sense or see through it and it's long range. So unless it's stated or feat-wise shown in the manga, there's no way kurenai can replicate that feat, but that doesn't lower her skill in that particular area.

Edit: Lmao, guys saying ama is sun level and temari is universe level; here's your explanation; temari with some help ripped open the raiton armoured strongest body shield of 3rd raikage which both the bijuudama and FRS didn't do jacksh*t to. So temari can destroy anything in NV considering with some help she can do that much of a damage to such a durable "strongest" guy.

Ama is a yin attack + soul attack (as seen when Sasuke remembered naruto and sakura in his emotions when he casted his first amaterasu; emotions are a by-product of the soul in NV as tobi explained the nunoboku no ken had the emotions and feeling o the Rikudou sage)as seen with it's black colour, it's pretty useful against tailed beasts which are spirits, hence why we saw the Eight tails scrambling in pain while it took a head on molten lava with zero flinching from son goku, another tailed beast. So in that very context, amaterasu is hot as the sun.

And yes, hiruzen indeed is the strongest hokage; it's not just the saying of the data book.

If 5 is the highest stats for genjutsu than yes, because Kurenai is a genjutsu specialist. And I’m assuming that her genjutsus come from her clan too. But just know that this is at a base level where most kekkai genkai and secret arts are excluded.

Her genjutsu is comparable to Itachi’s finger genjutsu that he was able to preform at 30% percent chakra.

Sakura has a 3.5 in genjutsu, I think 3.5 is the highest you can get if you can naturally resist them but you don't use them. Because both Sakura and diedera had that ranking. But itachi and Kunrenai are equal in base genjutsu , sharingan isn't taken into consideration ,

Yes characters get new feats that may improve what we have seen But always remember that these are base stats...

I don't know about the Boruto ones but most of the Naruto ones are unreliable at this point. Kishi wrote them with a lot of fancy language and with certain things in mind that don't necessarily correspond with his final product.

The most glaring fault is the explanation of student graduation ages. Originally, Kishi imagined a more gifted student would graduate from the academy early. We were meant to think such characters had greater potential if they accomplished this feat of graduating early. However, despite the fact that Kakashi seemingly graduated years earlier than he was suppose to, we still saw him in the same class and graduation as Obito/ Rin at the end of the manga. Basically this means he scraped the idea of having students graduating early simply to show they were stronger. Instead, he kept important characters with their teammates for the purpose of keeping them together after graduation.

There are other examples too like the wording used to exaggerate Susanoo and other MS abilities and whatnot, but the academy graduation ages is the biggest one.

Yes and no. Yes as in to give some detail or color note about a technique, no as in it's not the bible and they didn't write it for everyone here to use it as a debate tool where whatever it says is law.
