Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu (武神館 武道 体術)
Type:Taijutsu
Background:
The style was develop by shinobis that lacks physical strength. Having been bullied by bigger and muscular shinobis, they focused on conditioning their bodies to give them a boost on their speed, sacrificing muscle build up that slows down their movement. They concentrated on toning to give them more flexibility and fluidity in movement.
Description on the Abilities and Inner Workings of the Style:
Bujinkan Taijitsu seeks to use body movement and positioning rather than strength to defeat the opponent. All techniques in Bujinkan taijutsu involve unbalancing the opponent by using strikes, throws, sweeps, or combination of these to disrupt the balance of the opponent while maintaining one's own balance. The style teaches one redirect the opponents to give the user positional advantage. This movement is utilized during the moment of the opponent’s attack. To complete the movement, one moves out of the opponent's line of attack to the opponent’s blind spot. When executed properly, one can strike an opponent with great force, combining his attacking momentum and opponent's forward movement.
Bujinkan Taijitsu strategy combines rhythm, timing, position, and distance to parry and counterattack in one continuous motion. The ability to turn defense into offense by using an opponent’s power and momentum against him lies at the heart of the Bujinkan method. The basic technique in Bujinkin Taijutsu is to parry the opponent’s attack in a way that redirects their attacking energy away from you. You then move to your opponent’s weak side or blind spot that has been opened-up by your parry and execute a strike, throw, sweep, or combination of these to put the opponent on the ground. The combination of movements involve circular or pendulum motions of the body in order to redirect the opponent’s attack without meeting it head-on (meeting force with force) and to counterattack with motions that generate energy and momentum. Many of the parries and sweeps are designed to put the opponent off-balance which makes it much easier to knock them to the ground as their own body and momentum assist in carrying them to the ground.
