Cursed Revenge

Thirteenth Story Arc - Year 813

March 22 - April 22

Life after the Binding of the demonic Mother Tiamat, an event beginning to be known as the Resistance, was beginning to resemble a shadow of the life Shinobi once had. Deaths were mourned and time barely ticked by before opportunity presented itself, war always on the horizon and it came soon. Tsumigakure quickly resumed its imperialistic campaign, eventually finding itself at a short lived war with Shinigakure, ending with a treaty. Bounties and the remaining Children of Tiamat were found and though the area near the Hokubo Ocean uninhabitable, it became ground zero for a second outbreak of Red Fever. Spreading rapidly through the world, it grew to effect everyone in the Ninja World, having a perfect infection rate though for most it was most non threatening with them being asymptomatic. However, those who directly were in contact with Tiamat had been effected the worse, effecting others. The virus has spread across the entire western continent in a short time, dramatically increasing death tolls across the map. With no known method capable of during, the Red Fever strain began to cripple the continent. Meanwhile, in Tobusekai, another group begins to rise from the shadows...

Update 13: Cursed Revenge
As the Tiamat arc fully wraps up, it is time for the next arc to begin. With that said, this next arc will have ties that bleed over into subsequent arcs. After the defeat of Tiamat and the creations spawned from her, the remains began to poison the land and spread rapidly, infecting everyone. Normal citizens have began to die in significant amount while the average ninja has yet to show symptoms. Those who directly combat Tiamat, however. Have been impacted the most. As the virus grew to be more concentrated and have the worst impact in the Hokubu Ocean, those who visited there recently of have made contact with Tiamat has caused all of those who met her to develop severe side effects, mirroring those of the Red Fever, suggesting it wasn't just an influenza strain years ago and could have been much more.

Qhile every ninja has the virus now, only those who fought Tiamat or have recently crossed the Hokubu Ocean are noted to have Severe Cases and have weakened health and dull senses and be extremely contagious. The Virus shows up as a virus that causes them to move at a max of 2x their base speed and track up to 4 times their speed max. This also reduces their health and chakra by 25%. As a severe chakra strain, it also prevents those affected by it to be incurable by any known methods, including Yang or other healing based abilities. These effects can pass to anyone who touches someone infected, causing 8 posts before the sickness worsens to this state and they too become contagious.

While these conditions seem harsh, they aren't the entirely of the Arc; new tournaments and events will arise gifting opportunities to compete for various prizes unique to the Ninja World. For roleplayers, it also offers a set of time limited objectives, activities, and rewards. New story elements will become available, featuring an assortment of themed missions and objectives. The arc will also offer a chance to obtain arc-limited artifacts, themed after the event. The event also offers a set of rewards for various activities that reward Kumi to participants.

"Hey, get your ass moving, now!" A scruffy voice yelled out, kicking a downed and panting man in the back, pushing him flat to the earth. "You're moving too slow! You heard the man!"

The fallen man grunted and winced under the pain of the kick, clearly fatigued though without physical injuries. Staggering, he raised to his feet and shuffled forward towards the entrance of the obsidian tower with the wheelbarrow of items and Ninja Tools. The one who has kicked him had his hand on a sheathed sword hilt, moving along him as they walked. Looking up at the tower's balcony, he nodded to a woman on top who mirrored the action before turning and walking into the tower.

An elaborately designed tower, the woman navigated the many halls before coming across a man seated in front of a large open room, nearly empty of furnishings. Several men entered and exited the room, hard at work designing sections of the newly built building.

Bowing before crouching to one knee, the woman would speak to the man sitted.

"Oisha-Sama, news has reached us: After several weeks, the Red Fever has spread to many across the Ninja World. We have isolated the Ground Zero location to be the Hokubu Ocean and identified the triggering event as the arrival of Tiamat, the Goddess, as the out break's origin. Tests have shown that nearly everyone here has been infected with severe cases showing up in those who have made contact with Tiamat herself or have traveled to Ground Zero recently. The experiment we have ran have yieldsd little progress; perhaps the lack of severe symptoms prevents th-"

"I understand," the seated man stated, interrupting the woman who quickly fell silent. "Our experiments have so far failed to produce the outcome I want. It seems our scientists were mistaken - if this is to work, we will need more than the average commoner. Put out the notice, even those who have recently contracted severe cases are usable."

Rising from his seat, he looked around the large room, as he spoke. There was a fear about the room, the group of workers avoiding his gaze as they all moved about quickly.

"We're almost done here, things will begin very soon. In due time..."

Interbellum

There was an eery and ominous feeling around the room, the seated and cloaked men and women awaiting Oisha's entrance. Pacing back and forth, one of them began to grow impatient, an irritated look on his face.

"Where the hell is he? I'm not trying to be waiting on him all damn day," he spoke, removing his cloak as he puffed a cloud of smoke from the cigarette in his mouth, his finger stroking his beard. "That fucker should have been here"

"Patience, Fuwa," a short, balding man slurred slightly, his hand around a bottle. "You know Oisha likes to take his time."

"And that's the problem; he's always going on about how time is of the essence yet he isn't here. We'd never be waiting on Naga-" Stopping abruptly, he took another drag of the cigarette before flicking the end of it, blowing a cloud of smoke above him as he continued to pace.

The woman who had been on patrol when the Edo Tensei arrived stood up, annoyed by the man. "Look, we know Lord Oisha is busy with preparations. The one who arrived here is already being exposed to his power and soon, all will be extracted and we will be ready to move on in Lord Oisha's vision. Soon, we will find enl-"

"Oh shut it, Ishijo. Oisha could tell you to jump off a cliff and you'd respond with praise about his demands as you kill yourself"

"Perhaps if you weren't so impatient, you'd see that Oisha would have prepared a net for us first."

"You're fucking insane," Fuwa retorted, shaking his head at her as he walked back to the table. "For once stop being in love and listen to reason: Oisha would no sooner kill you if it meant power."

"And what would I kill you for?" A voice spoke, entering the room cloaked. "Power? Ryo....a sword? You speak boldly, Fuwa. Do you have something you wish to say?"

Frowning slightly, Fuwa scoffed and sat down, speaking angrily. "And how is the plan proceeding, my Lord?"

Oisha smiled slightly, glad to see how agitated Fuwa was becoming. "Things are going as well as expected, but that's not what you want to hear, is it?" Walking to his seat, Oisha then spoke to the group as he sat. "The package is upstairs in isolation. We've became to drain his chakra and soon, it will be ready. Terasaka, have you sent the scrolls out?"

"Yes, my lord."

"Good. Once everyone arrives, we can hold the tournament."

"I still don't know why we even need a tournament," Fuwa mumbled, clearly still agitated.

"Because, my friend, it is not in our best interests to send out a cure for free, now is it? No, bloodshed is needed for this to work. It is the only way we can trigger everything in time."

"Time for what? Some damn spirit to appear? What the hell is that going to do for anything?"

"Fuwa....you speak too brazenly for someone of your power. Do not tempt me, learn your place and stay there before you lose your tongue. "

Angered, Fuwa stands and points his sword at Oisha, feeling disrespected.

"You dare insult me?! Your tongue will be all that's left once I'm through with you!" Brandishing his axe, Fuwa points it at Oisha and channels fire through it to form a gigantic axe and armor around him and it. As the chakra shroud forms, the others around the room collectively draw breath and stand, some gripping their own weapons or channeling chakra as the tower's greatest rule had been broken: the unsheathing of weapons. Deciding to deal with this alone, Oisha orders them to cease.

"Its time we say goodbye to our friend, Fuwa." Drawing his sword and moving swiftly, Oisha cuts through the shroud with ease, siphoning the chakra from him as he withers away. The chakra drained from the body and now within the sword, Oisha turns it sideways and slams into the ground, releasing the chakra in the form of a spirit who then flows into Oisha and causes him to momentarily glow green before subsiding and returning to normal. Sheathing his sword again, Oisha turns to the group.

"Anyone has any objections? No? Let's move on... everyone will soon arrive and we can get this undergo. Yoshida, let's go discuss your part in this."

Turning to the man fully wrapped in bandages except his eye, they leave the room, heading back upstairs to the floating man. Staring at his emanciated body, Oisha's face and expressions becomes dark as he mutters to himself.

"Soon, my sister will be free and then...."
