Where are you from? I think it depends on your region nature .
In japan this manga is aimed at kids .

Naruto in some countries is also aimed for kids but moments like sexy no jutsu is censored even the translated manga is censored.(i think its for the better especially that it doesn't affect the plot)

Plus manga is a big world there are a lot of better manga choices there are lots of different genre's that doesn't have inappropriate content.

A typical parent nowadays lets their kids play on ipads more than they watch TV. Its yet another way to make parenting easier. Filtering is important to a degree and I'd honestly recommend early teens, 12 at the youngest, if you're going to let her read it all that is. Its mostly a matter of what she wants. Does she know about the series and wants to read it? If she is not aware than you shouldn't feel a need to introduce it to her so easy.

Find other genres to challenge her first. It doesn't have to be manga reading, it can be traditional books or even challenging mind games, which I'm sure there are a million apps of right now. Again, don't force her down a road she isn't interested, and certainly not too early. Again, I'd say 12 min.

Hello all

At what age do you think it is appropriate to let my little sister read Naruto (or manga in general)? I'm asking because there are some "elder" themes in it (look at Sexy Jutsu for example). I'd like her to start reading a. because reading is good for her, b. Part 1 has many strategic fights to show her intelligence is a good quality to have and c. I want to advance her mind by doing intellectual things above her "age level" because she finds school work really easy.

1. How old is she? Naruto is fine to be read at any age. It just has crude humour and immature themes at times.

2. Using Naruto as intellectual stimulation is... i guess your call. But have her read/study something else to "advance" her intelligence.

3. If she finds school work easy find some work a grade above hers.

Who knows? There are a lot of factors to consider, is she the type of person who goes back over an event or part of story over and over in her mind until she completely understands it? Introverts tend to do that, if that is the case you don't want a kid to go over why Sasuke became evil, and trying to comprehend how Itachi felt when he did killing of his clan, let alone trying to get a deep understanding of pain's words and how he became who he was until her mind is satisfied with the conclusion, see- kids shouldn't do that.

If that's not the case, just let her read when she is in tenth grade or something, things will just go down in her memory as nothing significant and she would clearly not understand all the dark parts- her mind just skims over, kids remember stuff tough- which they later understand when they grow up, it's like how everyone thinks their parents is the world as kid and then later realize the difference between trustworthy/hypocrite whenever they mature(some people even die as 60 yr old kid)

There is a difference between maturity and age. I don't think (again, my opinion) the age would matter, it should be when she is mature enough to handle the content. Honestly, it sounds pretty bad but I've been exposed to bad things since I was 7 xD The first time was on accident though, but I learned to not get influenced by it. So anyway, it should be when she's mature, which has no age.
