Looks like it is time to stars using the word continuity to describe the DB universe instead of canon and non canon. This is what comics have done for the many different universes in comics.
Since the main medium to describe the original content is now being moved to a different form to continue the story, either all DBS is non canon, the same way GT is, or we have to look at it in a different way.
I mean if Akira is only involved with the ideas, concepts, and story, while others are telling the story through animation, why is the anime canon. I mean is he saying is the story like this? "And then Goku puts his left foot onto Beerus face and proceeds to throw 3 fast punches after." If the story is being told like this and is getting animated step by step, Akira would be better off just writing a novel. That is the only way I can see the anime being canon since every single detail would be described. I'm sure however, he is just giving an overview of what he wants to have happen and the animators fill in the rest. If this is the case, all the feats and we see are non canon, and only the story is canon. OR(this part may be a bit harder to follow if you don't understand much about comics) we can accept DBS as an alternate universe in a continuity as we do with comics. aka the Marvel Cinematic universe is Earth 99999 and the main Earth is Earth 616. Everything is technically canon, but only to that universe. This may be the only way to accept it in some form of canon or the entire thing is non canon like GT.
