What does the quote "Insurrection of thought usually precedes insurrection of deed" mean?
I personally think it means if you have the idea of starting a rebellion against authority your capable of being able to start the a rebellion and shows that there has to be something wrong (corruption/ authorites being unfair) if your having that idea at least through your perspective?
Can someone tell me if I'm right or if i'm missing anything?

Insurrection of thought means rebelling against the internal beliefs, ideals, and dogmas that define what you will (consequently) rebel against externally (e.g., state, religion, society). To live in an environment which contains the structures that you are going to rebel against necessarily means that those structures exist within you...for example, you might rebel against racist policies in 50s & 60s America but you must rebel against racism within yourself first.

It refers to a collective negative feeling towards the government. The government tries to convince the citizens that is is good. Before any rebellion takes place, the citizens must first come to the collective idea that the government is not good. FOr example in 1984, Will, whose job was to lie about the government, slowly comes to the conclusion that the inner circle is a corrupt government, and after that decides to fight against it.
