Worst marketing ever. They build so much hype and money from the first season to make movies nobody cares about and let the hype die out in other countries before starting the second season.

WhT Hype? What's dying out? AoT still selling strong in the states and Japan, not to mention they animated Levi's spin off, and the movies who people in Japan are excited about lol. Trust me they don't need the anime to stay strong, that's why thye took their time with second season :)

I know you keep up with the manga but at least what I've seen the anime picked up massive hype early on and now it's sort of forgotten.

I have to agree with Pumpkin here, no way is S2 going to cover all chapters until now. And it's not even coming out this year lol.

The hype isn't as strong as back in the days, it's really amazing show and manga but eventually the anime will fall behind at this rate.

Even if the hype is dead, if season 2 came out, I'm sure everyone would still watch lol

How far from the end of season 1 has the manga gone? Is it worth reading?

The anime ended around chapter 32, of course it's worth reading, if you are really hook then I wouldn't wait, I didn't but if you can wait then wait. You could watch LEvi's spin off in the meantime.
