No, on the contrary I think they're even foreshadowing him using it. The preview blurb for the next chapter does say 'Ao's trump card' so it's possible that his trump card is an enhanced Byakugan

Ao is a bad writing himself. A character we thought has died like 5 years ago suddenly comes back to be a major villain in the first real arc of Boruto. How the hell does he survive, but Inoichi and Shikaku died? I don't get it at all, this should've been a newly introduced character instead of using long gone Naruto geezers.
