I’m just wondering how y’all interpreted it.

Seems to me he dreads his existence as a cyborg and possibly blames it on the ninja world as some speculated.

Also I feel Kara might have revealed the Ootsusuki origins of ninjahood to him and at that point he might of felt like shinobi history isn’t what he thought and abandons it. Thus retiring as a shinobi, abandoning the mist village & aiding Kara who possibly wants to end shinobi era. Don’t forget Ao was the one who had Katasuke in a genjutsu who was trying to advocate and push ninja tech on the public during chuunin exams to speed up the obsoletion of shinobi.

On the train when boruto first met him he did tell boruto "when I was your age i was already on tbe battlefield"and at the end of that chapter he seemed excited because
"It's been 16 years since my last taste of combat"
He does still somewhat linger on the blood mist days which could explain how he acts

I took it as he can't die. and he is the only one who keep surviving.

Like why everyone else died and he was still alive.

It does. and running from him is never a good Idea is seems.
