i seem to be stuck at the moment, I'm at 184 right now and I don't seem to be going anywhere :/

You are sixteen, you can loose it quick, just keep doing some push and sit up drills and do some cardio, you should be fine after a couple weeks, since you are young, you can loose weight faster.

I'm 16 and like 187 pounds, and I've been running and I think it's been helping. Anyone else?

I was overweight like last year, then I started running but I got pain in my legs and feet so I tried other stuff to get rid of the pain, then at the beginning of this year I got a little more serious and worked out by running on some crosstrainer thingy in the gym for 30 min + some minor strenght stuff for 20 min 3 times per week for 3 months. I lost weight after that. I was never hugely overweight but I was weak and fat basically. A little fat. Not super fat but noticably fat.
I tried running again after that and managed to run 6 km but then I got pain again now my plan is to start running on the treadmill for 5 days a week for at least a month.
Then maybe I can start running outside. The hardest part is to not eat crap. I used to buy loads of chips and candy and ice cream and everything but I don't do that anymore.
I want to get in shape but I'm not sure I want to be too much in shape, I just don't wanna be fat.

Running isn't going to get you very far. I suggest you pair it up with other cardio/calisthenics. If you don't know what that is, Google it. And, whilst running, make sure you've adopted a good posture/form; heel-tapping will damage your legs in the long run. Good posture and a high cadence is paramount. And in your workout sessions, do include a lot of HIIT training, as it is twice as effective in terms of losing weight and gaining muscle. Also, don't worry too much about junk food destroying your gains; as long as you maintain a caloric deficit, you will lose weight, no matter what you eat. But of course, you won't lose weight as fast as someone else who's eating clean, so of course, do eat clean whenever possible.

Can't say much else other than consistency is imperative. Don't skip your workout days. If a situation arises whereby you can't go to gym, just do a quick 100x push ups, 100x sit ups, and 100 squats, and your workout will be done for the day. Also, do not neglect weight training; studies have shown that weight training coupled with cardio/calisthenics is three times more effective than just doing only one. And a final piece of advice, don't for example workout your legs for 30 minutes then start working on your chest. After you're done with your legs, your body will direct a lot of blood and attention to them, therefore making your chest workout not very effective. So if you work on your legs, don't switch to a completely different set of muscles. Instead, once your legs get tired, focus on surrounding/neighbouring muscles like your glutes.

Anyway, I'm not a gym coach, but these are some of the things I picked up in order to attain a pretty good physique. Take heed.

i mean thats cool and all, do you. but imo you dont need to lose weight to feel good about yourself, thats more an internal thing than an external thing and you most likely feel that way because society planted that in your mind..but before being overweight use to be a sign of wealth

but if you feel like you need that to raise your self esteem, try and see. you might not feel better about yourself or you might actually. but imo you should learn to love yourself either way despite what others think, theyll judge you regardless of what you do

Being overweight has physical disadvantages in sports and makes you less desirable when in the dating game. It's more healthy to be in shape anyways. When it comes to being in shape, whether or not you have low self esteem doesn't matter because health counts. Torturing yourself is eating anything you want, it hurts just sitting around being out of shape and being out of breath with your chest hurting.

well youre 16 but im a recording artist not some athlete, i have no need for any of that. if you have a great personality you can find a great man or woman for yourself, true love is deeper than shallow things like that and beauty is in the eyes of the beholder

i dont see how eating whatever you want is torture and if youre sitting down with your chest hurting, you probably have asthma. that doesnt happen to me

We all say that and revert to our instinctual shallow attraction. Only rare amounts of people can romantically attract others based on mere personality.

well youre only 16 so youll learn, people are shallow at the age but not all. the more mature you get and the more baggage you and others acclaim from relationships, the more you learn what matters

those who dont, arent the people you want anyway unless youre just as shallow as them

Physical attraction is always a factor, regardless of age.

and what did i just say? beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, i hope i dont have to explain that concept to you

if it wasnt that way, all overweight people would be alone but its not the case

Get a scale. Scales are sometimes beneficial or detrimental for some people, but some people cannot see the weight difference after working out more than 3 days a week for at least two to three weeks and sometimes need to see the number difference in order to be encouraged to continue.

To be honest, just find something that drives you. For me, it's just how fat my face looks and the fact that I'd like a girlfriend before the end of HS, along with the fact that I'd at least like to do Cross Country and track without being weighed down and near death from just two laps or 5 minutes of nonstop running.
