Anyone Know A Good Editing Software?

well i have to edit a movie for a school project, however i am new to editing and and don't know which software to use. So can anybody tell me a good software that is user friendly and free to use or I can get a trial version of.

Corel Videostudio. Seriously, I use it all the time for my Youtube channel & college work, it's basically just a glorified Movie maker that can actually get shit done

Get imovie is you have an apple. its the most simple for beginners.

but if you want to get really into editing (im a video editing major in college) i would suggest final cut pro 7 or premier pro.

I use Sony Vegas to edit my video's. It's pretty straightforward when you are used to it .
