Hey I was wondering if anyone here is really good at math.

I'm having a little bit of an issue with my math homework.
-I'm in calc 3 and if you can help it would be AWESOME!!!!!

I'm doing Lagrange multipliers

I have to find the maximum and minimum values of f(x,y) = 3 x + 3 y + z, subject to the constraint x^2 + y^2 + z^2 = 9, if such values exist.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

-_- you can't figure out how to do your homework, so the most logical thing is to make a thread about it? Don't you know what Facebook is for?

It's been a while since I did Lagrance's multipliers so double check my math to make sure I didn't make any mistakes.

You must be registered for see images
So you got your x=y and z=(1/3)x

Thats what I did, Then from there you would plug your x,y and z into the original function to get your max and min. I'm guessing from your work that each variable has a positive and negative outcome right?

But thanks, it looks right. Thats what Ive been doing

Yes, I didn't bother with the plus and minus after simplifying my root but they're there.

If the maths are good, you should be able to figure out the rest from there.

Post again if you need help, I love those problems.

O_O I shouldn't have bothered to even attempt. xd
Lmao, at least you tried to help, kudos ^^
