Anyone else see most mainstream rappers as bad influences?

I have a friend and he's been into rap for a while, well lately he's been getting into Tyler the Creator, who made a song called "Radical". This song is driving him to say "f*** college" and "live my live as a radical".

He was heavily influenced by mainstream rap and he's talking as if he wants to drop out of school and break the law. This worries me because he is only a 12 year old and I've come to learn he is VERY easily influenced (He changes MMOs about every week too).

I tried to talk to him, having people Ive known for a long time get into drugs and have seen what corruption can do to a person, but he didn't want to listen, and started yelling. Is mainstream rap or music in general with negative messages really influencing the children of today? Were our parents right when they told us "Don't listen to that man's music"? Opinions? Thoughs? Suggestions (About my friend's problem)? <3

He's only a kid, I try to talk to him about it but he refuses to listen.

"We hear this **** every year in school, I dont need a f***ing pep talk from you, it didnt help me at all, f*** school, Im gonna live my life"
In my opinion, the problem isn't the rappers, but the kids. There is a reason there is a parental advisory sticker on their albums: Little kids like your friend shouldn't even be listening to it. The problem isn't the fact that the rapper is saying things that could be a bad influence, but that the wrong people are listening to it, and you can't hold the rappers responsible for this.

I gave suggestions, I didn't force it on him. Any better music than that 5ft turd will do
People are gonna listen to whatever they want, deal with it. Not everyone wants to hear reality all the time, the reason why people listen to artists like that is because they want to get away from reality.
Tyler gives you fiction, Cunninglynquist gives you reality.
