Well right now both Itachi and Nagato are competing for my fourth favourite character spot. Honestly both of them have quite a few philosophical quotes that can apply to real life as well. Both have sad stories and an interesting background behind their character.

Mm I've seen plenty of people who hate current Itachi to admit liking Part 1 Itachi. Most people saw it in the anime so it might have a different effect for some xD

Now, what the boy here was talking about is the hype and the fanboyism. He stated that Itachi's a cool character but he's neutral when it comes to him.

Why the whole flame war and start attacking Kiba for no good reason? Pathetic, to be honest.

Now, coming back to topic, I like Itachi, he's a cool char. and he has its place in my heart but I don't hype so much about him around. He has my upmost respect for what he's done.

At first I didn't know what to think of him. After all he was made out to be the bad guy who messed with Sasuke's mind. However, I found it strange that the perfect son would suddenly go crazy and slaughter his entire clan, save for Sasuke, so I didn't know what to think of him and didn't form an opinion about him until I saw his face when he heard that Sasuke could have possibly died during the fight with Deidara.
I started to respect him a bit because he believed in his brother and he got my full respect after Sasuke's fight with him.
Now he's placed in my top ten favourite characters, though he isn't perfect

I agree they have the same spot in my top 5. i thought it was so cool to see them together as edos, def one of the strongest two man cells in naruto
