Masterpiece? No.. It's a great anime. The ending was super rushed though.

In terms of being an anime adaptation or the series in general? Both are wrong. HxH is an amazing series but like all series out there, it has it's flaws. The closest series to being a masterpiece is OP IMO. It really offers everything. HxH can really be up there if Togashi made more material.

I didn't genuinely enjoy them that's all. I don't contest their quality but none of those really floated my boat.
