Agreed

He's not one of my favorites either but I still hoped to see him in his prime.

I know that no one modified him but I expected him to be modified and him not dying in his prime doesn't mean anything Madara died looking like a old prune and now look at him, he's at his prime. That's the point I'm making.

Okay but still Madara wasn't the only one brought back to his prime, Nagato and Itachi were also if you think about Sasuke took Itachi's eyes, and Obito took Nagato's eyes, and yet they were brought back with their original doujutsu, see what I mean?

Wasn't that after itachi and nagato both died stop looking for plot holes or just stop reading

It had been obvious for some time that Hiruzen's rep had been retconned (assuming it was ever intended seriously), so I am not surprised or disappointed. This is a good thing, it shuts up Hiruzen fanboys. I mean, why else do you think he was brought back, if not to clearly establish the new pecking order? It's not like he really contributes anything to the backstory, we already know everything he could tell us (Danzo and Itachi showed us his story). He's been edo'd precisely to clarify for fanboys that he's nothing special compared to the 1st (or even the 2nd or 4th as it turns out).

His old age has nothing to do with it. As an edo he has no shortage of stamina, and the difference otherwise should be negligible. We've seen already that 56 year old Hiruzen was powerless against the 9 Tails TBB (so the same age we saw Jiraiya and Tsunade running around in their prime), plus Onoki shows us age doesn't have to diminish techniques (though it does stamina, which again is not a problem for an edo Hiruzen), and Onoki is alot older than Hiruzen.
