Hashirama did in a war period after he founded konoha... tobirama was killed by Kinkau unit (20 people)

I hope we'll learn soon enough the reason for Hashirama's death. As for Tobirama, Kishimoto killed him off with what to be one of the stupidest ways. One of the stronger Kages of all time, to be killed by Kinkaku's (probably) squad, what the heck?

@penguin. Tobirama, one of the best sensors of all time, ambushed? Doesn't make sense. He could feel Madara's charkra thousands of miles away, and he couldn't feel the Kin Gin's Kuubi charkra? Also, he has super human reflexes, able to react to a dangerous situation before Minato could and was even able to catch Juubito off guard. Moreover, his FTG allows him to dodge virtually any attack, be it TBB or Amaterasu.

Conclusion: he must have had a brain fart that day and turned off his sensing abilities. Not only that, when ambushed, despite his superhuman reflexes, he forgot to use FTG. Finally, he tried to use the Edo Tensei but seems to have forgotten the seals to perform the jutsu. It's ok, people forget things when they are nervous. Well, panicking, he froze and couldn't think of anything at all, so like deer in the headlights, he got floored.
