So I've been re-watching some Part 1 Naruto and I've always wondered why Kishi didn't give us a Neji vs. Sasuke fight. I mean arguably the two best Genin at the time, would have been an epic fight. What do you guys think? Now Current Sasuke would probably wipe the floor with Neji, but back before the time skip I think Neji had a legitimate chance.

According to Kakashi, Sasuke wouldn't stand a chance against Neji. Don't remember which episode/chapter though. Probably around the time he beats Hinata.

And yes, this was before the power balance got out of hand.

i think neji would have killed sasuke before time skip/pre stage 2 curse mark.
after sasuke got the stage two curse mark/better sharingan he probably would have won.

There's all sorts of vs. matches we could've had. It wasn't important enough to the plot line or story themes, so it didn't make the cut.

sasuke would have the fight if where talking about C2 sasuke blackout sasuke had lees speed plus sharingan he would have the body and the eyes to see and dodge every attack neji took at him and neji isnt blocking chirdori at a the speed sasuke took off at

if rotation was to block chidori witch i hardly doubt he still had 2 chirdoris left fire techs and curse mark level 1 but neji also has the 8 trigrames these are match desiders but like naruto had the nine tails chakra strored up to break the chakra blocks

sasuke has his curse mark so a say tie
