Any advice for heat problem?

My laptop heats up instantly.Its not even 2 mins since start..it gets hot.After 10 mins its hard to keep my hands on it and type.

Keep the vents clear and up so it can draw more air. See what process is pulling so much CPU. If you have a lot of apps that autoload by default try removing those from startup. If your playing online games or using the vid cam then you may want to invest in a laptop cooling pad.

I have checked the fan..I have cleaned it but it is still heating up

There is not much load on CPU.I cleaned the fan and vent and booted.It heats up within minutes like instantly..

I dnt have viruses.Its Linux machine..I boot Windows to play games but its same on both OSes

If you cleaned out the fans and the vents and got rid of all the dust. Try checking your battery. Bad batteries get hot real quick

Try coolent or just hit your lappy on the wall and say some verbal abuse. After that if the problem still occurs then buy a CHIP magazine and go through tips & tricks.. Or ask Dr. CHIP ?

What you should do is change the thermal compound of the cpu. Aka the thermal grease. Thermal compound is what helps transfers heat to the heat-sink so that the cpu get's cooled off. Over time the thermal grease begins to dry up, especially if you do things like photo editing/gaming constantly as that puts stress on the CPU. There are videos on youtube that teaches you how to do this, linus tech tips is a great source. However be cautious of how you do it, there are several wrong ways to apply thermal grease.

You'll need

- Coffee filters
- Rubbing alcohol of 70%+
- Thermal paste, I like Tuniq TX-2 as it's not conductive.
- Newegg.com or your local computer part shop (Or other sites if newegg isn't available to you, google around). Walmart won't have this stuff.
- A night of reading up on the correct methods and watching guides.
