Hmm... I wonder what would happen if those guys carried guns instead? Yep, the death toll would have been much higher.
More or less.

The same can be said with guns that have a purpose, other then solely kill (people)or seriously injure. Such as for sports and hunting for food.
But as for knives,it too can be used to kill or injure people.
China knife massacre, of 29 people.
Attacks at the city's train station also saw 143 people injured, as the assailants hacked and slashed at people apparently at random.
Osaka school massacre:37-year-old former janitor Mamoru Takuma entered the school armed with a kitchen knife and began stabbing numerous school children and teachers. He killed eight children, mostly between the ages of seven and eight, and seriously wounded thirteen other children and two teachers.
I just find it pathetic that people get the urge to bash on "Americans" cause we don't have guns banned yet county's that do have such bans and what happens? The insane people find other ways to kill.
Like I said, let's just ban everything that can be used as a tool to kill people and let the government have them to use on us.
Like tazers?
Don't get me wrong though, I think tazers should be used as self defense ,just like guns.
It'll be an ignorant statement to think Tazers are non-lethal nowadays . People are protesting to stop using Tazers cause it could kill people. Plus if you don't want guns to be available to the public, then why allow tazers?
Why turn the blind eye on the fact that a person that kills, would use that weapon to easily put down an innocent person... So just like guns, tazers should only be used by officers . But then who's to say that an officers starts going on a killing spree? Such as ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner. There could be people like that as a cop,yet people want to give up their arms and trust them ?
Everyone should be given a fair chance when it comes to self defense. If a cop can use guns to defend himself, then why can't a good citizen.
They aren't even banned here but we have this thing called intelligence and we dont hand them out to every **** head on the street
I said a guns only purpose is to kill or seriously injure i did not say people although it was implied. Hunting for food still deals with killing or seriously injuring however. And as far as sports goes well its not really a big deal here in aus and i have never come across it before so im a little bit ignorant about that. but sport and shooting ranges i have no objection with.
"The insane will find other ways to kill people" so what? not even try? You just agree to do nothing and continue to hand them guns? what a joke.
And yes i have heard about those stabbings but what you dont seem to understand is that a guns capacity to kill compared to a knife is far greater
haha "why allow tazers when you do not allow guns" Because a tazer is used to immobilize, not kill or seriously injure. And yes in some cases they do have the potential to kill but that is not their intended purpose unlike guns.
A police officer should be tested, trained and given pass by the government and police force. For a cop to commit himself to a shooting is not the guns fault but the superiors for allowing such a person to hold any inkling of power over anyone else.
yes i know you did not say whether it was the guns fault or not but that is just my thought on that situation.
Officers should be trusted and should be armed. However as i said a tazer is not intended to kill therefore i think it is suitable for the public to use not just officers.
You say there could be people like that as a cop. I say there shouldnt and if there is, law must be dealt heavily to the ones who ****ed up because those types of situations are unacceptable.
And i find it pathetic how americans can stand to watch the news about another school massacre and defend the retarded rights to guns as they are. That is why i bash on you people. and im obviously not talking about every single american... just the majority who think guns are a good thing.
whether it be by sword, rock arrows, or a few well placed punches and kicks.. murder has and will happen since tht one fkng fruit was shared..
Americans.... Cant realise that simply less guns = less shootings. Baffles me
The UK had more violent crimes than the us last year and their gun policy is way more strict than america.

Gun vs Knife
I am sometimes asked, "Hey, if you carry a gun, what do need Krav Maga for?" It is true that with the invention of firearms martial arts took a step backwards. From a distance a gun will beat the best trained martial artist of any style. (See Raiders of the Lost Ark), but there is still a great need for martial arts, and Krav Maga, in today's less than perfect world.
The fact is it takes time to draw and fire a weapon, even for a trained shooter. A standard arrest can go wrong; a person can attack from short range without warning. In such situations your handgun is almost useless.
.
Against a knife the situation is even worse. If you rely only upon your handgun – you just might get killed. Most people, law enforcement included, have no idea how fast a knife wielding assailant can move. In a blink of an eye he can be upon you. I have seen police videos of actual stabbings and it is frightening. I have seen multiple armed police officers getting stabbed one after another, afraid to open fire since the assailant 'only' has a knife. Finally someone realizes that a knife is a formidable weapon against a gun, and shoots the guy.
If you have a hand gun, realize that it does not provide absolute protection against a knife, especially as the distance decreases.
Tueller's drill
Personal Safety Expert Professor Arthur Cohen introduced me to the concept known as Tueller's drill. It is a drill which shows that most people can cover 21 feet in about 1.5 seconds.
Sgt. Dennis Tueller of Salt Lake City Police Department conducted experiments which let to the conclusion that an attacker with a knife in his hand covers 21 feet in 1.5 seconds. Therefore anything under 21 feet is considered to be in the zone of "imminent danger of death or great bodily harm."
In other words a person with a knife or any edged weapon is a direct and imminent threat to you if that person is within 21 feet (7 yards).
Research shows that a person with a knife who is closer than 7 yards can stab or cut you before you can stop them with a gun.
Most police officers, even with the gun already in hand, cannot hit a target twice before the "assailant" can cover 10 yards.
Cutting that distance down to around 7 yards takes lots of practice and training.
So, you see, "primitive" weapons are deadly weapons. That is why in Krav Maga we spend a lot of time working on knife defense.
All the the knife wielding assailant has to do is get within 7 yards before rushing you and you are in mortal danger.
The best bet is to step away as you draw your weapon, better yet; step at an angle, this will give you more time to draw your weapon. Realize that there is no such thing as a safe distance from a knife; thus, shoot if you can. Many armed police officers were killed by assailants armed 'only' with knives. They underestimated the lethal ability of the blade.
Another technique we use, if we don't have time to draw the weapon, is kick the assailant with a front kick as we step back and draw the handgun. Of course, no matter what, it is important to train in knife defense techniques and not to over rely upon the handgun.
1.
What a joke to think I would agree to do nothing and hand them guns.
But these kids got the guns illegally or (stolen) from their parents.
There's already background checks that you go through when purchasing a weapon but it does needs to improved.
Parents do need to lock, and keep guns away from their child that may be unstable.
2.
A person with a knife is just as deadly as a person with a gun.
Especially if that person is well trained
3.
But you can use a taser to immobilize, and then kill. Give a serial killer a taser, and watch him or her go nuts.
Still it shouldn't be banned for citizen use cause it can still be used for self defense, same with knives....and guns.
4. But you can't always rely on cops to protect you.
You must be registered for see links
So why let them only have the guns or think they can't harm you?
police brutally murder helpless schizophrenic: multiple taser etc. WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES & AUDIO
I find it pathetic that people think that cops could be trusted enough to use weapons for their own self defense, etc and not citizens.
Ban guns, we got cops. But cops are human as well. They can get mad just like any one else and sometimes use that anger in the wrong way.
Plus guns could be smuggled into the states if a banned is active just like drugs. And FBI were known to loss piles of weapons and find them later on in a crime etc. so why rely on them.
Guns aren't the issue. Mental health is the issue. Kids these days are becoming increasingly unstable and it goes against everything our country stands for to take away the rights of all because of the actions of a few. That's called group punishment and while I admit it is effective in its results. Doesn't quite apply to this issue because its centered around mental health and morally I find it wrong.
