Why did naruto have Minato's cloak and Jiraiya's scroll in the pain fight?

What was the point in giving him that cool stuff when after beating pain he got demoted back to jinchuriki pet?

And why'd they make his cloak red and black in the anime when it is clearly supposed to be like Minato's?

The cloak was red not white.

The scroll was to reverse summon his clone for SM.

Lol^ desperate times calls for desperate ass pulls. Not only did Minato have the other half of the Kyubbis chakra, but he was able to control it within a few hours of getting it. haha. It makes sense that he had it, but not that he can control it.

They gave him cloak to look like his father since he will face one of his biggest and most important battles.
The cloak is red, Kishimoto colored it that way. The scroll is for getting SM back in case of a situation that needs it.
