i have heard alot of mixed feelings about anonymous (the group)
what we know:they are against the government seemingly they hack stuff ex.bank of america psn ect
but are they really the bad guys ? what are you guys' thoughts on this?
are they the good guys or are they the bad?
edit from wiki:
Anonymous (used as a mass noun) is a loosely associated hacktivist group that originated in 2003 on the imageboard 4chan, representing the concept of many online and offline community users simultaneously existing as an anarchic, digitized global brain.[2] It is also generally considered to be a blanket term for members of certain Internet subcultures, a way to refer to the actions of people in an environment where their actual identities are not known.[3] It strongly opposes internet censorship and has hacked into various government websites. It has also targeted major security corporations.[4][5][6]
In its early form, the concept has been adopted by a decentralized online community acting anonymously in a coordinated manner, usually toward a loosely self-agreed goal, and primarily focused on entertainment. Beginning with 2008, the Anonymous collective has become increasingly associated with collaborative, international hacktivism. They undertook protests and other actions in retaliation against anti-digital piracy campaigns by motion picture and recording industry trade associations.[7][8] Actions credited to "Anonymous" are undertaken by unidentified individuals who apply the Anonymous label to themselves as attribution.[9]
Although not necessarily tied to a single online entity, many websites are strongly associated with Anonymous. This includes notable imageboards such as 4chan, their associated wikis, Encyclopædia Dramatica, and a number of forums. After a series of controversial, widely publicized protests, distributed denial of service (DDoS) and website defacement attacks by Anonymous in 2008, incidents linked to its cadre members have increased.[10] In consideration of its capabilities, Anonymous has been posited by CNN to be one of the three major successors to WikiLeaks.[11] In 2012, American magazine Time named Anonymous as one of the most influential people in the world.[12]

Yeah for how long psn was down thanks to them?
but they really didnt screw anything up in my attention they actually helped them showing that they needed to be more concious of how much security they lacked if it wasnt for them someone could lose tons of money if it was anyone other than anonymous they could take all those credit cards...

What is their full story? I don't know them. Their seem to be in the neutral territory and close to the Bad-side.

Edited: Now that I read, it could be a high risk of Bad written all over them. Their accessing, possibly, our national security. It puts the nation at harm.

I don't view Anonymous as good guys really but I don't view them as bad guys yet...

It's entertaining to me though when they hack government websites thinking it will influence a change. They have seemingly good intentions but take a childish or bad route to complete their mission.

I definitely wouldn't want to mess with them though.

They are an interesting group. I like them. I'm sure there are some who think it's stupid to like them and some who hate them, but I find them inspirational from my view/interpretation of them. I see them sort of as a Ra's Al Ghul type of "character." Different means, but helps society in their own way overall, but includes some level of personal gain. Neutral, different, and interesting is what I'd describe them as.

Edit: Yes, I know they aren't a group, but that's what I'm calling them as a whole.

If that was the case of them actually showing lack of whatever I wouldnt get so mad when theres a cheater in the game that psn does not ban for their lack of care for their servers.

I would say they are bored nerds who need a bit of attention. So they decide to group together and do seemingly harmful acts, to get the attention they crave, but the act is never harmful enough that they would be arrested. I think they need to step it up and do something bad enough to earn them a proper punishment, then people may see that they really believe in their "cause", as it is now, it seems that they pervert a real cause so they can play on a computer and get some attention.
