The internet group "Anonymous" hacked the USSC website earlier today in response to the death of hacktivist Arron Swartz. What's your thoughts on this?

I have no thoughts on it. The USSC had to be done in for the sake of a fellow hacktivist.

We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.

But being serious, I really couldn't care less about what Anonymous does..but if they hack one of my beloved h̶e̶n̶t̶a̶i̶ favored sites it's going to get real.

I think it needed to be done. Just because I don't agree with our government.

LOL! Love the honesty you perv, LOL!
I like Anonymous to be honest, and I applaud them. I loved it when they hacked into the Westboro Baptist Churches web page while doing that interview on alex jones, that was epic.

Honestly, I view Anonymous as something of a wild gun. They tend to shoot in whatever direction the roulette wheel happens to be facing. Sometimes, they get it 'right' (in the case of Westboro). Other times, they just strengthen the case for mandatory eugenics programs.

Both the 'beauty' and 'problem' with Anonymous is how they operate. Decisions are made based on who can garner the support of people with enough combined resources to perform any given action. Most of them are just script-kiddies who think a coordinated denial-of-service attack is the next best thing since masturbation - and they are really just a pain in the ass. What this also means is that Anonymous is prone to people acting on impulse in ways that are popular. Get enough script kiddies together who support your cause - and annoyance can be rained down upon some unsuspecting demon to the people (or whatever logic is used to justify the attack).

For this reason, I'm very cautious of Anonymous. They tend to be very self-righteous douches with a robin-hood complex.

That said - I do not think measures should be taken to restrict or remove freedoms from the internet. I think some of them could easily be brought up on legal charges if their identity were revealed to authorities - but that's not really the point. The point is that the Internet has freedoms that come with it, as well as risks. The damage that would be done to the internet and the exchange of ideas/information it represents would be far, far greater than any benefit that could come from such restrictive measures.

We allow people to drive cars even though they kill over 30,000 people in the U.S. annually. Car accidents and their toll are an accepted price for the freedom. Even more people die from alcohol related incidents (which can include vehicles) - a cost we accept as worth the freedom of being able to purchase alcohol (not that anyone would be all that successful in removing that sacred liquid... the fact that we idolize such a substance is a testament, once again, to the need for a highly aggressive eugenics program). The cost of stravags ( ) is considered worth the freedom to impregnate any girl foolish enough to accept your seed.

So - I would rather put up with stupid people freely making decisions to be stupid as opposed to having stupid people forcing everyone to behave according to the same level of stupidity. At least with freedom enabled - the occasional ray of intelligence manages to accomplish something worthwhile.
