I wanted to start a thread to keep track of what's changing around AB. Bringing some of the old NB stuff back while trying out new ideas as well.

3 things added this past week:

Reputation Bar​

Brought back the old reputation bar from the NB days. Let's bring back some nostalgia from the old days.

Looks a bit different now, but the idea is still the same.

Activity Streak​

You'll now see an activity streak in your postbit. Every consecutive day you post in a public thread counts towards your streak.
Curious how long some of you can keep that going! I'll think about adding milestones.

Postbit & Statistics Styling​

Cleaned up the postbit statistics a bit, added icons and made things much more compact on mobile.
You can now customize the new stats panel yourself btw. Background color, transparency, blur, text color etc.

You'll find it under Profile > Style settings > Postbit Style.

I'll keep posting changes here as I add them. Plenty of things I want to bring back or experiment with. There is also a question from me about the village bars or maybe icons, please contribute here and give me your feedback.

We've removed many older threads from public view, mostly containing outdated or problematic external links.
Normal/regular discussions and active threads are untouched.

If you think we've removed a topic by mistake, DM us and we'll look into it.

An update on Activity Streak
I've made a small correction to keep activity streaks fair at launch. If you were active on launch day (Oct 11), it now count towards that day’s streak, including those posted before the counter went live.

To clarify the rules going forward: activity streaks count new posts and replies in forums/topics accessible to everyone, including guests. Posts in restricted areas, such as the Premium section, don’t count. Each qualifying day adds one day to your streak.

Meet Yoru, the Base's new resident AI
Some of you have met her in the Tavern, so let's make it official: Yoru is now live on AnimeBase. She's our AI assistant, she's part of the community, and she's here to help.

What Yoru does

• Answers forum and RP questions, explains rules, knows all the guides and knows how things work around here.
• Helps new members to join our RP
• Joins us with discussions about anime, the Base and its history, she only knows what's public.

How to reach her
Just tag @Yoru, or quote/reply one of her posts.

What Yoru won't do

• Writing RP submissions for you. Bios/jutsu and abilities have to be your own work. AI-generated submissions are not allowed. She'll explain the rules though.
• She is not a moderator.
• She won't settle lore disputes, on RP and lore, RP staff has the final word.

She knows about the history of AB/NB, when something's missing she'll tell.

Feedback
She's learning as she goes, and a lot of what she does now came from your feedback in the past hours.

You probably noticed AB was offline for a few hours today. Been working on quite a big upgrade behind the scenes.

A few things changed:

Forum Software​

We're now running XenForo 2.3. Quite a big upgrade from our previous version, and something we needed to do for a while.

Server & Security​

As you probably have heard in the news, there was a serious security vulnerability in the server software PHP. Because of this reason, I took the site offline to prevent hacks.

I've updated our server software to the latest PHP, so the issue has been patched.

Add-ons​

Social Groups and Credits received major updates as well. Your Kin and Kumi balances are still there.

Known Issues​

Not everything survived the upgrade perfectly of course.

Some styling effects aren't working right now, we're waiting for an update from the add-on developer.

A few smaller features might also look different or be temporarily missing.

If you notice anything broken, missing or just weird, please let me know. Preferably with a screenshot and the page URL, makes it a lot easier to figure out what's going on.

Still a few things to sort out, but at least we're running on a much newer foundation now, and much safer!
