You should watch the anime then go with the manga. That is how I did it and I enjoyed it. If you don't want to watch the fillers you should take a look at this

I've watched anime and I've been reading manga parallel but I like anime more. Tho, I am a type who prefers anime, so if manga is not really, really great like in OP case, fusk it.

Also, if you don't like wasting your time on fillers find a guide how to skip them. Bleach anime has too much of those shits.
