I really like this approach of spending a complete episode to a certain edo character.
This week we have the sworsman helmet splitter.
Next week Pakura of the sand.
They make more of an interesting story of it this way, compared to the manga that kinda rushed through these characters.
Getting to know Sai his sealing more, was interesting as well.

Would like to know what others think of this approach.

I enjoyed a filler for once i couldnt believe it i agree with you i was hoping for fillers like this for a while now here is my thread discerning my expectations

Not only is the anime doing well, but the animation is finally up to standards.
The latest episode were Rock Lee kicks the Head splitter guy reminds me of Original Naruto when he kicked Gaara xd

Yea, I am really enjoying these fillers, even though they are fillers we get to see more of the actual war.

I agree these war fillers are doing a good job of filling in the holes that the manga is leaving open. The manga is sort of rushing through the war so it's nice to see the anime elaborate more on it.
