What do you guys think of this? I don't think I wiould like it becoming to mainstream because then people would treat it like politics: everyone would think they know what they're talking about.

It's getting there. The only anime that was actually so popular that "the cool kids" talked about was DragonBallZ. Any other anime that wasn't DragonBallZ was met with scorn if someone revealed they liked it.

In one rare instance of my school career, a "cool kid" revealed he liked Gundam Wing. He did not speak of it publicly.

I don't think it should become mainstream. Then anime will be like call of duty where they just make unoriginal ones that will sell. Like he said in the video, I like being part of this "anime cult".

I would say that I was a cool kid and knew all the popular kids. None of them liked anime or anything except for me. Everybody boy of course watched DBZ but that was it pretty much

To be perfectly honest, anime is mainstream...in Japan. That's why most of character archetypes we see in shonen/shoujo have all been made before. Anime becoming mainstream in the rest of the world...that's yet to be seen. We're not close to it in my opinion.
