Animal path

We have seen so far only Nagato use animal path.And we sam that the animals had rod piercing them and rinnegan eyes... So i think that in order to summon an animal you must first defeat it and pierce it with a rod.If you think how could Nagato lift the rods the answer is simple: Universal pull .Do you think i am right ?

its not that rod . He summon them normally . It just his techniq that required rod bcz he itself has rods. U can see episode in which he invoke that techniq
