Sasori is an incredibly powerful ninja and a highly analytically and cunning man. Sasori was a greatly feared shinobi, most notably during the Third Shinobi World War where he was renowned for his puppetry skills which led to the death of many ninja which gave Sasori the name, Sasori of the Red Sand. However, Sasori is a high underrated shinobi who deserves more recognition for his power and battle prowess.
Abilities:
Sasori is a diversely powered ninja who is backed up by a plethora of techniques and a high level of intelligence. He was able to defeat, with difficulty, the Third Kazekage who is hailed as the most powerful Kage in Sunagakure history. Even a powerful ninja like Deidara admitted his inferiority to Sasori.
Puppet Mastery:
Sasori was taught by Chiyo in the art of puppetry and created many puppets which include the Three that Kankuro currently uses, Sasori Parents and more. At the time of his death, he had a plethora of puppets; 298 human puppets to be exact. Many of Sasori puppets are installed with long range weapons, which Sasori maintains a mastery in and Sasori is able to control up to 300 if not more puppets at one time. Sasori is also able to control living bodies as puppets if weakened enough. Sasori, who refers to his puppetry as a work of art, went on to name his techniques, the Red Secret Technique.

Notable Puppets:
Hiruko - Hiruko is used as an armor and as an offensive puppet. Hiruko has a scorpion like tail which is infused with poison which could be used to attack or defend by rapidly moving the tail. Hiruko mouth is filled with poisoned needles which shoot out and cause serious harm to the opponenet.

Third Kazekage - Hailed as the most powerful Kazekage and Sasori favorite puppet. The Third retains his Iron Release in his puppet form, giving Sasori access to the Iron Sand and its abilities. The sand is mixed with Sasori special poison became a lethal weapon. Due to the Thirds abilities, metal cannot work on Sasori as it will convert into chakra. The left arm is filled with poison enthralled blades while the right is filled with dozens of summoning seals.

Scorpion - One of the many things that made Sasori feared was his experiments in which he conducted one on himself: Sasori became a human puppet. At the age of 35, he maintained the appearance of a teenage boy. Where his intestines used to be, Sasori had a countless number of blades and swords all filled with poison. On his back he had four summoning seals; the first blazing a high amount of fire, the second Red Secret: Summoning of a Hundred Puppets. The third and fourth were not revealed. His back also contained turbine like blades which propelled - either a defensive or an offensive ability.

Core of Living Flesh -The only human part of Sasori body is his 'core of living flesh' which was similar to his heart. Sasori could not feel pain and essentially immortal in a sense. The core could switch amongst puppets if in serious harm or is incapacitated.
Human Puppetry:
This technique, which falls under the classification of a kinjutsu, is a technique in which a human corpse has its organs removed and replaced with puppet like figuration's. The advantage that human puppetry has over normal puppets is that human puppets keep the chakra and kekkai genkai that they had in there living form, in there puppet form as seen with the Third Kazekage and a Sharingan wielder among the hundred puppet technique. Think of Human Puppetry as the puppet form of Edo Tensei.
Intelligence:
Sasori is known to be a highly intelligent man and is quickly able to determine a enemies strength and battle strategy. He did not fall for a countless number of misdirection and traps that have been laid for him. Sasori has also been to have a prowess in poison related techniques. He was able to create poison that could brainwash an individual and poison that he claimed that nobody in Sungakure could heal - the poison killed perfectly healthy cells. He was surprised when Sakura was able to create an antidote for his poison. He claimed that there was no room of mistake when creating an antidote for his poison.

Misconceptions about Sasori:
Sasori is Weak - No he is not weak. For one he is a S-Rank Missing Nin who is in the Akatsuki. The Kage of the village is generally the strongest in the land and with Sasori killing the most powerful Kazekage, equates to him being the most powerful ninja that the Hidden Sand produced.
Sakura & Chiyo are stronger than Sasori - This is false as Chiyo had complete knowledge of Sasori and most of his abilities. Also in the end, Sasori notoriously allowed himself to be killed by his Mother and Father even though he was capable of escaping. Sasori was also the result of a infamous unrealistic plot technique.
Sasori is one of the weakest in the Akatsuki - Sasori is actually one of the most powerful in the Akatsuki. When arranged in tiers, Sasori falls in the same ranking as Kisame and Kakuzu and both have a legacy of being powerful.
