Chapter 2 : Why the Flowers Bloom
Kasu: " 'Its odd how everyday feels like the end of the world in some way. There is either the harshness of reality, or the hatred and sorrow of the people in it. But, there is always a flicker of light somewhere that leads us to a brighter tomorrow.' I wonder if I will ever find that flicker of light..."

Momiko: "Kasuma dear! Get up! School is going to start soon!"
*Momiko shouted from the bottom of the stairs*
Kasu: "I'm right here mom. I've been up for three hours now, I got to make your meals, remember?"
*Kasu said as he rubbed his head while standing behind Momiko*
*Momiko jumps slightly in surprise as she thought Kasu was still upstairs*
Momiko: "Oh my... don't sneak up on me like that dear..."
*Momiko said as she sighed and set her hand on her chest*
Kasu: "I don't see how you didn't already know I was up. This is a daily routine for me, even on my weekends..."
*Kasu said as he turned around and picked up his bag and was getting ready to leave*
Kasu: "Remember to eat your food Mom, and don't forget to lock the doors when you leave, and don't worry about the dishes, I'll take care of them when I get home. Be careful and see you later!"
*Kasu said as he made his way out the door after slipping on his shoes*
Momiko: "Well hes oddly friendly today. I wonder what happened. Oooooh he must have met a girl! And on his first day of school! So romantic!"
*She squealed*

-On the way to school-
Kasu: "Yesterday was rather... interesting for me. One minute I am having a fight with my childhood friend about my emotions, and the next I'm crying in her arms screaming 'Why!?' over and over again. I guess something about the idea that I cried in front of someone... makes me feel more, happy?"
*Kasu thought to himself as he walked up the path to school*
*As Kasu continued walking, he looked to his side and saw a flower trying to bloom but didn't look like it was any time soon*
Kasu: "A flower trying to bloom but cant, because it doesn't know how... sounds like me."
*Kasu said to himself*
Yurako: "Heeeey there Asuraki-buddy! What are you up to this fine morning?"
*Yurako asked as he threw his arm over Kasu's shoulder*
Kasu: "Its the same question every day Yurako... and I am going to give you the same answer. Walking to school... on the path to school... just like everyone else around you is... get the picture?"
*Kasu asked as he shrugged Yurako's arm off of him*
Yurako: ""Heheh, good point."
*Yurako said as he rubbed his head smiling*
Kasu: "-Sigh-"
"I hope he doesn't know I balled like a baby yesterday... he won't let me hear the end of it..."
*Kasu thought to himself basically praying in his head that he hasn't heard anything*
Yurako: "So a little birdie told me you got all emotional yesterday with Mizuna. You go buddy!"
*Yurako said as he elbowed Kasu slightly*
Kasu: "And there it is..."
*Kasu thought*
"Uh... yeah. Who told you though?"
*Kasu asked*
Yurako: "A little... birdie."
*Yurako said suspiciously as he smirked*
-First School Bell Rings-
Yurako: "Anyhow! I'm going on ahead again. See you later Asuraki!"
*Yurako said as he rushed on ahead to school*
*Kasu continued walking his way to school while looking up at the sky watching some white clouds pass by slowly*
Kasu: "Did releasing my emotions... really help me open up...?"
*Kasu asked himself as he continued to walk to school*

-School Courtyard-
*Kasu walks in through the school gates then stops and looks to his side and sees Mizuna sitting under a cherry blossom tree reading one of her books*
*Kasu stood there for a moment, staring at Mizuna, with her hair blowing in the gentle breeze and the cherry blossom peddles flowing around her with small rays of sun light beaming down around her through the tree branches*
*Mizuna looked up and saw Kasu and then waved gently while smiling at him, she then stood up and walked over to him*
Mizuna: "Hello there Kasuma. How are you today?"
*She asked gently as she tilted her head to the side a little smiling*
Kasu: "Uh... I'm fine... you?"
*Kasu asked trying to hide that he was staring at her a moment ago*
Mizuna: "I'm well. Because I was able to be there for a friend."
*She said smiling*
*Kasu's eyes widened out a little knowing that she meant him then he closed his eyes and started rubbing his head*
Kasu: "Uh... yeah. About that... Thanks..."
*Kasu said while mildly blushing as he continued to rub his head*
*Mizuna smiled*
Mizuna: "No need to thank me. That's what friends are for after all."
*Mizuna said still smiling*
*Kasu stood there staring at her bright smile*
Kasu: " 'That's what friends are for.' I always knew that's what friends are meant to do for each other but... I never tried to accept it..."
*Kasu thought to himself still staring at Mizuna's smile*
Mizuna: "Oh man we are going to be late for class. Come on."
*Mizuna said as she grabbed Kasu by his hand and led him into the school*
*Kasu blushed slightly as Mizuna took him by the hand and began to lead him to class*

-Home Room-
*Mizuna and Kasu walk in through the door together and both find their way to their seats through the crowd of students*
*Kasu sat down staring at Mizuna chatting with her friends for a moment then he looked to his side and began to stare out the window*
Yinako: "So, when are you going to ask her out?"
*Yinako asked as he randomly appeared next to Kasu*
*Kasu jumped slightly and fell back in his chair*
*Kasu sat on the floor rubbing his head slightly*
Kasu: "I really wish you would stop sneaking up on me like that..."
*Kasu said as he stood up and sat back into his seat*
Yinako: "Yeah yeah whatever. Answer my question! When are you going to ask her out? Stop making her wait for ya man!"
*Yinako said as he sat backwards in a chair*
*Kasu rubbed his head slightly then began to stare out the window again*
Kasu: "I'm not going to ask her out... I don't have those types of feelings for her... I-... I mean we are just friends... really close friends. End of story..."
*Kasu said doubting his own words but trying to mean them as much as possible*
*Yinako raised an eyebrow and smirked slightly*
Yinako: "Liar..."
*Yinako said as he continued to grin*
*Kasu elbowed Yinako in the side while still looking out the window*
Kasu: "I'm not lying..."
*Kasu said again still doubting his own words a little*
Yinako: "Ow! Alright alright. Geese can't take a joke?
*Yinako asked as he rubbed his side slightly and made his way over to his own desk*
*The bell rings and the teacher walks into class*
Home-Room Teacher: "Alright everyone take your seats, home room will begin now."
*The teacher said as he walked in with some note books and papers*
*As time passed, the lunch bell rang and everyone began to pull out their lunch boxes but Kasu sat there not moving*
*Mizuna approached his desk*
Mizuna: "Hey Kasu. Do you have a lunch?"
*She asked*
*Kasu looked from the window to her*
Kasu: "Huh? Uh... no. I didn't make one today..."
*Kasu said as he leaned back slightly in his chair*
Mizuna: "Well if you want, I can share my lunch with you, I made a little too much."
*Mizuna said smiling*
*Kasu looked at her and saw her holding two boxes of food as if she planned a meal for two*
Kasu: "Uh... sure, why not. Can't let all that food go to waste after all."
*Kasu said as he rubbed his head slightly*
*Mizuna smiled then pulled up a chair next to Kasu and set the two lunch boxes down and they both began to eat*
*After lunch was over, time passed and school was now out*
*Kasu began to pack his things while waiting for everyone to clear out of the class and then Mizuna walked up to him again*
Mizuna: "Um, Kasuma? I'm going to be a little late getting out, I have a student council meeting to attend. You go on home without me, okay?"
*Mizuna said smiling slightly*
*Kasu looked at her then leaned back in his chair slightly*
Kasu: "I don't mind waiting for a bit. I'll be here."
*Kasu said as he rubbed his head*
Mizuna: "Oh no you don't have to-"
*Mizuna began to say but then was cut off by another student*
Student Council Member: "President Mizuna, the meeting is about to start. We need to get going."
*The student said*
*Mizuna looked over at the student*
Mizuna: Uh, oh. Okay I'm coming."
*She said as she looked at Kasu just sitting there then walked over to the student and went to the meeting*
*An hour passed and it was almost sun-down, Kasu still sitting at his desk staring out the window*
*As Kasu stared out the window, he spotted three guys picking on a Freshmen student as if he was some bottle to be kicked around*
Senior Bully: "Come on kid, fork up the money!"
*The student shouted as he pushed the freshmen*
Freshmen Student: "n-No! This money is for my food! Without it I'll starve!"
*The freshmen pleaded*
Senior Bully: "Then starve! Just hand it over!"
*The bully demanded as he shoved the freshmen again*
*As Kasu went to stand up to go outside and break up the fight, Mizuna rushed outside yelling at them*
Mizuna: "Hey what do you thugs think your doing!? Unnecessary violence on school grounds, threatening your lower class men and above all else trying to steal from him? This outrage will get you suspended if you do not leave now!"
*Mizuna shouted as she stood before the bullies with the freshmen smiling with relief that someone stepped in*
Senior Bully: "Oh I'm so scared Ms. Student Body President! Don't lock us up in the school prison!"
*The bully said sarcastically as he rubbed his eyes acting like hes crying*
Senior Bully #2: "Heheh yeah what are ya going to do little girl? Talk us to death? Heheh!"
*The bully said as the rest started laughing*
Senior Bully #3: "Yeah why don't we just take your money instead?"
*The bully suggested as the other two walked up to the sides of her and boxed her in*
Mizuna: "Don't you lay a finger on me you delinquents!"
*Mizuna shouted as she stomped her foot at them*
*One of the bullies shoved her slightly into another bully and he shoved her back*
Senior Bully: "Or what?"
*The bully asked laughing*
*As the bullies continued to shove her around, one of them feels a tap on their shoulder*
*The bully turns around and sees Kasu standing there*
Senior Bully: "Huh? What do you want punk?"
*The bully asked as the other two bullies looked at him as well*
Kasu: "Well, I know this is none of my business, but..."
*Kasu said as he then punched the bully in the jaw, knocking him to the ground*
Kasu: "I think its time you three head on home. I don't take kindly to those who try and do harm to my friends. Let alone my childhood best friend."
*Kasu said with his eyes fixed on them, sending chills down their spines*
Senior Bully: "We'll remember this kid!"
*The bullies shouted as they all ran out the school gates*
*Mizuna was sitting on the ground with her knees a little dirty, Kasu reaches his hand out to help her up*
Kasu: "You alright?"
*Kasu asked as Mizuna took his hand and he helped her up*
Mizuna: "Yeah, I'm fine. The student council has been getting many reports and complaints about those guys for awhile now. I'll have to take this to the teachers."
*Mizuna said as she started to dust herself off*
Kasu: "Hey freshmen. Head on home now. If those guys start giving you trouble again then take it to a teacher or something, or find me."
*Kasu said as he looked over his shoulder at the freshmen student*
Freshmen Student: "t-Thanks a bunch you two! I won't forget this."
*The freshmen said as he bowed his head to them then ran out the school gates and went home*
Kasu: "So are you finished with your council stuff?"
*Kasu asked as he dusted off a spot on Mizuna's arm that she missed*
Mizuna: "Yeah, I'm done. Ready to go home?"
*Mizuna asked as she smiled at him*
Kasu: "Yeah, lets get out of here."
*Kasu said as he took Mizuna by the hand unexpectedly and began to walk with her out*

-On the Way Home-
Kasu: "So, what did you guys talk about in the meeting today?"
*Kasu asked trying to make conversation*
Mizuna: "Oh nothing much. Some schedule changes, a few cases of bullies and some other stuff like that."
*Mizuna said as she walked side by side with Kasu*
*Kasu laughed softly*
Kasu: "That sounds REALLY boring."
*Kasu said as he laughed again a little then just continued to smile*
*Mizuna was shocked when she heard Kasu laugh, for she hasn't heard him laugh since before his father died*
*Mizuna then rushed up in front of Kasu and as he bumped into her softly, she kissed him*
*As their lips locked softly, the flower off to the side finally bloomed*
*Kasu's eyes widened out in surprise*
*Mizuna took a couple steps back then smiled and tilted her head to the side*
Mizuna: "See you tomorrow Kasuma."
*She said as she began to rush the rest of the way home*
*Kasu stood there for a minute in complete shock, then he blinked then started to rub his head and continued to walk home*
Kasu: "That girl... is something else..."
*Kasu said to himself while smiling softly*

Kasu: "And this... is why the flowers bloom..."
