While I think he died honorably, and perfectly.

Had Kisame survived the battle against 7th gate guy, and healed up, what role do you think he'd have played in the war. Would he have battled alongside the edo swordsmen against Kakashi's crew? Would he have been Tobi's right hand man and assisted him with the other jins against naruto and bee? I would like to think of it this way, He survives, get his sword back cuz...why not, and helped Tobi...later on he'd prove himself loyal to Obito instead of Madara and took him on alongside gated guy? Sorry if this sounds like a fanfic, Just wanted to hear your thoughts!

he fooled everyone that sharks killed him .
one of the shark delivered massage to tobi while the other shark was kisame.
it seems he wanted to heal from his wounds and Obito told him to lead akatsuki if he failed in the war .

kisame and orochimaru worked together to create new akatsuki and to rule ninja world.

The uchiha blonde guy is one of orochimaru experiment.
Kisame want to revenge itachi death as well because kisame had no brother or friend except itachi.

If he had survived and escaped with Samehada, his role in the war would be hard to say. Kisame's very much the muscle that Obito has, and normally I don't think Obito would waste a resource like Kisame and not have him fight. But, with Kabuto around and the possibility of being betrayed, I wouldn't put it past Obito to have Kisame stay behind for the first day of the war, just in case.

If he survived to the Obito vs Madara event, he easily would of sided with Madara. Kisame's whole drive was getting to this new world, if Obito gave up on that goal, he would side with the next best thing.

I don't think it would matter for him that Tobi was Obito. He wouldn't have known who that was because Obito hadn't made a name for himself until he became Tobi. He was committed to akatsuki. I don't think Tobi's previous identity would've mattered to him. Even having Kisame fight with him might've helped obito from turning over to Naruto's side JUST LIKE THAT.
