I have been thinking about the colors of the Susanoos we have seen in the manga, and I’m fairly certain that the Susanoo’s color is a reflection of its user’s personality. Sasuke’s is purple (as was Indra’s), which signifies the darkness within him. Not necessarily a malevolent darkness, but an abrasive one. Sasuke doesn’t enjoy the company of others, and even pushes them away unless he feels that he needs them. He prefers solitude.
Madara’s Susanoo is blue, which is slightly more radiant than purple. Madara isn’t as dark as Sasuke; he had a good friend for most of his life, a friend who Madara was able to openly acknowledge as his superior. He also wasn’t really driven by revenge like Sasuke was. Madara is a weird Indra. Requires more thought to explain him properly, but that’s not what this post is for.
The most interesting Susanoo is Itachi’s. Itachi’s Susanoo is orange, a color associated with Ashura rather than Indra, and on the opposite end of the color wheel in relation to Sasuke’s and Madara’s Susanoos. This is representative of Itachi’s more Ashura-esque personality, his understanding of people and desire for peace. However, Itachi exhibits stronger Indra traits than either Sasuke or Madara. His talent was vastly superior to anyone else’s (other than maybe Kakashi). It has also been noted that he made establishing peace his personal responsibility, burdening himself entirely with this task rather than seeking any kind of aid (even though he got AIDS in the end lol). No other character is shown to so strongly exhibit traits of both Ashura and Indra. No character except…….Hagoromo. I'm sure this won't be received well, but Itachi could be a reincarnation of Hagoromo. I don't think the manga will ever address this, and I don't really care if it does, but if someone were to be considered Hagoromo's reincarnation, no one would be more fitting than Itachi. He even made the same mistake that Hagoromo made. Hagoromo treated Indra poorly and ended up sitting back and watching his children go to war. Itachi misjudged how his actions would affect Sasuke and ended up causing one of the primary conflicts of this manga. When they returned to the world (Itachi through edo tensei and Hagoromo in that dream world thing), they both acknowledged and rectified their past mistakes, or at least took actions to prevent them from repeating themselves. Hagoromo is also the only other character shown to possess Itachi's ability to understand people on a deeper level.
So yeah…I’m pretty sure I forgot a lot of things, I might edit this later or something. Agree with me and expand on my argument or tell me if I’m wrong and explain why. I might not be back for a while though; it’s 2 a.m. and I’m tired.
