An area on NB just for poetry.

Not a good ideea for this site...Indeed there are many who write poetry and like poetry but then you could all register to a poetry related siteU_U

Why the hell are some people being a crybaby over the idea of a poetry area here on NB? We have fan arts, fanfiction, etc. Whats so bad about having a poetry section? Poetry IS a form of art, and we deserve to be able to fully express ourselves w/o having to go to another site to do so. We want to be able to share our work here on NB with the NB community and not some people on another forum. I promise you there are more poets on NB than you think, they just have'nt "shown themselves" becasue there is really no where for their work to go w/o being overlooked.

I once posted some poems in FF and received some unpleasant responses in the nature of "wrong section." Chatterbox is more of a joke section, and I know the poems would get trolled heavily there. I personally think there is some merit to this idea.

See? There is no place for us poets here on NB. We (all the poets on NB) dont want have to go to some other site just to post poetry, we want to share it here In the NB community with our freinds/peers,etc. And also we feel more comfortable and confident here as opposed to some other site.

As for the hipster comments and the suggestion for poets to go to another site: To a degree, this site survives on the non-Naruto sections. The social interactions of the members are what keeps things active and why the site keeps growing. To discriminate towards a group who wants to post meaningful, serious, and mildly artisitic pieces of literature instead of the pointless, unnecessary, spam is a bit ironic.

Granted, we don't need an entire section devoted to every group of people, but the truth is that there really isn't a correct & proper place for members to post poetry;except maybe in the blogs. Even then, so few people visit the blogs and they are sometimes under-utilized. Also, you can't add/deduct reputation based on blogs nor thank the person. This may be trivial, but good work should be able to be appreciated.

I see people posting poems in the fan fiction section often, even I have posted two of them. I haven't received any bad comments, but it seems that the fan fiction section is maturing more as it's become more popular than it use to be as well. Maybe a sub section in the fan fiction forum would be a good idea, as long as it's actual poetry. Seen a few poems that just looked like people writing normally (like my post), no format or poetic set up at all.

It's poetry, and a large amount of poetry nowadays is like stuff that would be trying to express their emotions and differentiate THOSE feelings from that of, well, mainstream, for lack of a better word.

Along with the increase in hipster-trolls and haters...

There are alot of poets here on NB, and I dont think our work gets done "justice". What I mean by this is that our poems dont really get all the attention they could/should becasue of all the fanfics, becasue afterall it is labled as "fanfiction" not "poetry". Because when we submit poetry in the Fanfic section it gets overlooked due to the massive amounts of fanfics that take all of the attention. I think there should be a seperate area somewhere here on NB just for poetry (all forms). I also feel this will add more depth (literature wise) to NB.

There is absolutely NO need to be afraid to show your work. Poetry isnt about who is the best writer, its about self expression, Its about what you think it should be about. There is no right or wrong in poetry so dont be afraid to show your work.

Some of you write as if we'd create a section where the only rule is that you call it "poetry." Right, there would be an entire section where members could simply post "roses are red..." or non-poetic pieces and get away with it. Come up with a better argument because there would be guidelines just as there are guidelines for many sections here on the base and those guidelines would be enforced.

But Lawliet we already do, and its just like I explained In my post :shrug:. And as far as it being "popular" I assure you that there are a TON of poets here on NB, we just dont have a "haven"(area) for our work.

I'll put up the suggestion with an admin, but honestly i don't think it'll be done for a long time. The best that i could probably get ASAP is a coloured [Poetry] prefix for the FF section. How does that sound?

A sub-section isn't needed for this. Just change Fanfiction to a general Creative Writing section and problem solved.
