Lets ignore Trump in this dicussion, we have enough of those threads going on right now;


I'd like to dicuss the how America is going to look in the next several years when it comes on political, economic, and societal level now that Republicans have won power over the Senate, the House of Representatives, and has several new appointed republican supreme court justices.

I don't know how well a republican governed America can work, I'm not saying it's not going to work, only that I have yet to experience a good republican presidency like Ronald Regan or Ford. Are there any notiable positives and negatives you might see?

Well 1st they need to come together within their own party. They are about as divided as America is right now and that just won't do. If we can get moderated Republicans to take more accountability and offer some actual guidance (and trump actually heeds there advice) we could be looking at:

smaller governments
more stringent spending amongst conglomerates
a lot less lobbyists (contrary to popular belief, lobbyists are hated by republicans as well)
maybe even a solution (whether long term or short term) to the national deficit.

These are all good things. And of course you are also looking at:

higher taxes on the lower and possibly middle classes.
Tax breaks on big businesses
Civil rights for gays and lesbians are gonna get repealed most likely.
A larger military budget
Relations with Mexico and foreign policy might get strained.

But all in all the future is just unpredictably uncertain and that's what's scaring so many Americans.

obama had 8 years to do anything about climate change
at this point our only hope is that we invent a way to to remove green house gasses from the atmosphere
it is too late to see any changes from switching energy sources

Don't know what will happen but knowing the govt filled with super right leaning corporate Republicans doesn't inspire hope, I just hope that wanting a future in politics will keep him in lease and trump to have a legacy that there's something positive to say about it

Why do I see nothing but anti trump posts? I think the dudes a bad idea as well but do the people that speak against him even know what goes on with Hillary and the Clinton foundation? Where they get money? Who they pay out? She's no saint either and honestly I'm not entirely sure she would of been a good fit either. Just a thought I had..

This is true, but Hillary does corrupt things on a secret level, at least trump would be dense enough to keep it in public eye. Hell hillary used hired actors to post some of the questions at her rally's

They're all corrupt are we now going to accept them to do it in front of our faces and be quiet about it while politicians keep us busy fighting against each other
