America spends more on education than military

On the whole of our budget America spends more on education (15%) than military(13%) yet all you hear is how we waste all our funds on the military and that it's too much.

you dont hear that becasue of how much we spend on military compared to how much we spend on other things, you hear that because of how much we spend on military compared to how much other nations spend on military

america spent 610 billion at one point, and the next 7 biggest countries spent 610 billion combined.

Most countries consider Americans dumb, fat, and pathetic (A lot of these are facts I realize whole typing this), so I guess it's a waste of two funds there.

The wars are not part of that same spending though. Military activity isn't really entirely voluntary.

If you take out the money spent in war and just look at the money spent building the military, it shrinks dramatically

Just because spending increases doesn't mean anything
For one thing, you have to account for inflation
Second, it depends on how the money is spent
Increasing teacher pay is one of the better things to do that would help
Higher pay attracts more people, meaning more quality because of increased competition

Of course the situation is much more complex than that
Also common core is crap

I'll say this though. The number of private school students is a very small percentage of the population, yet over majority of presidential candidates have private school backgrounds. See the difference in schools that cost more and have more money in resources than the ones that don't?

I agree, that you can't just spend more money on schools for the sake of spending, you have to be effective.

So what. When someone says military spending, almost everyone focuses on bombs, bullets, and bayonets. But everyone has been benefiting from military funded research. Without out it some citizens wouldn't have the opportunity to learn a trade or pay for higher education. GPS was a result on military spending. The internet that everyone uses had it's start from military spending. Maybe the purpose of developing technologies to wage offensive warfare or defensive systems leads to destruction, however, military spending does fund the sciences whether directly or indirectly and we use the results from it every day.

I find it ironic that a person would post a subject of how wasteful military spending is, when the medium used was a result of research funded by the military. Military research and development did shape computing and computer sciences in it's early stages. So what might seem wasteful now may introduce new technologies for us to use in the future.
