I prefer Sun/Oracle's Sparc processors. You can generally find midrange used ones around 500-800 USD a pop too.

For example, check out the Sparc T3

Have a Tri-core AMD Athlon 3.20 GHz on my dekstop and an i5 2.60 GHz on my laptop.
Generally, I am oscillating between the two brands, but in my case the i5 is obviously better.
That price though.

You wouldn't be the first. They're not that popular.

Only AMD would think of such a thing.

Due to it's low popularity, I'm guessing it's not that good?

You'd be surprised.
It's just that my sucky GPU card can't live up to it.

Currently running fx 8350, it was my processor of choice because i was on a budget.
So far its really reliable, gives me as much performance as i expected. Though the downside is it runs my motherboard pretty hot because the voltages are high.
